LENEXA, KS -- (Marketwired) -- 08/04/14 -- Catapult International announced the release of its reference site for UN Location code and IATA code lookups called www.unlocodes.com.
Developed as a free, standalone website to Catapult's flagship rate and quotation management system Catapult QMS®, www.unlocodes.com provides shippers, freight forwarders, NVOCC's, and carriers a faster way to look up UN Location and IATA codes and when making international shipping arrangements.
"We've developed this free tool as a way to give back to the international shipping community," says Kevin Kwok, Director of Client Experience at Catapult International. "Our rate and contract management platforms manage a lot of very complex international shipping data. This new application is a way to share the existing industry data already in use within our own network platform in a way that can benefit anyone in the global shipping community. We've found that there are many cities that did not have a UNLOCODE attached to it. Catapult has built its own and has created a more comprehensive list, surpassing the United Nations location list."
The idea for the new website grew from the process of Catapult International building its own rate and contract management database. Working in the global shipping industry, a reoccurring challenge is the difficulty of looking up and obtaining ocean port and airport codes. www.unlocodes.com was created to eliminate the tedious work of looking codes up one by one and with a vision to create a free, user friendly interface that makes it easier to retrieve this valuable information.
www.unlocodes.com can be accessed with no requirements to provide any personal information such as an email address or credit card. Another option to looking up codes one by one is Catapult's datafeed of the UNLOCODES and IATA codes, which is provided as a subscription based service.
