AppDirect Expands Leadership Team to Drive Cloud Adoption and Empower Businesses Globally

AppDirect, the leading cloud service marketplace and management company, announced today that it has made two appointments to its leadership team: Stephen Banbury joins as Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, while Mark Beebe joins as Vice President of Customer Operations. With these strategic hires, AppDirect gains deep expertise in customer service and channel strategy to support its rapid expansion and scalability.

Backed by investors that include Peter Thiel’s Mithril Capital, AppDirect offers a platform to enable every aspect of distribution for cloud-based software and services, including provisioning, billing, product integration, identity and access, and application management. Recently named a Forbes Most Promising Company, AppDirect is lowering barriers for developers, channels, and businesses, disrupting traditional delivery systems and driving the growth of the cloud economy.

“At AppDirect, we’re enabling local businesses across the globe to easily access software and services through a truly connected cloud ecosystem. With Stephen and Mark on board, we can continue our focus on making software widely accessible while continuing to scale and accelerate our worldwide growth,” said Daniel Saks, co-founder and co-CEO of AppDirect. “Stephen and Mark are proven leaders who can drive business decisions, contribute to our innovation and support our strategic growth. They embody AppDirect’s values and will play an important role in moving our company forward.”

Banbury joins AppDirect with more than 20 years of marketing experience with both B2B and consumer companies. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Global Commercial Segment Marketing at Symantec, a role in which he was responsible for leading the company’s go-to-market strategy, product marketing, pricing, customer lifecycle, and integrated marketing across emerging channels and verticals such as telecom, managed service providers, and cloud service providers. Prior to Symantec, he served as senior director of worldwide partner marketing at McAfee.

Beebe comes to AppDirect with over 15 years of experience building and running global client services, strategic account management, support, and business operations for pioneering enterprise technology companies. Prior to AppDirect, he built and ran the client services organization for RichRelevance, a leading provider of digital marketing and analytics solutions across the web, store, and mobile for top retailers. Previously, Beebe served as GM and Head of Customer Success at Thomson Financial / Reuters.

For both Banbury and Beebe, AppDirect’s leading position in the cloud services delivery sector, as well as its strong growth trajectory and momentum, were key factors that drew them to the company.

“Cloud services is one of the fastest growing areas in the technology industry, and AppDirect has distinguished itself very quickly as the clear leader in the space,” said Beebe. “It’s exciting to have the opportunity to enable that type of extraordinary growth.”

Banbury added: “AppDirect has done an impressive job developing deep relationships with world-class enterprises to empower businesses around the globe. As an increasing number of service providers explore new options to power the future of their business, I look forward to helping them discover AppDirect and all of the amazing results that our technology can help them achieve.”

DevOps is under attack because developers don’t want to mess with infrastructure. They will happily own their code into production, but want to use platforms instead of raw automation. That’s changing the landscape that we understand as DevOps with both architecture concepts (CloudNative) and process redefinition (SRE). Rob Hirschfeld’s recent work in Kubernetes operations has led to the conclusion that containers and related platforms have changed the way we should be thinking about DevOps and...

The next XaaS is CICDaaS. Why? Because CICD saves developers a huge amount of time. CD is an especially great option for projects that require multiple and frequent contributions to be integrated. But… securing CICD best practices is an emerging, essential, yet little understood practice for DevOps teams and their Cloud Service Providers. The only way to get CICD to work in a highly secure environment takes collaboration, patience and persistence. Building CICD in the cloud requires rigorous ar...
Companies are harnessing data in ways we once associated with science fiction. Analysts have access to a plethora of visualization and reporting tools, but considering the vast amount of data businesses collect and limitations of CPUs, end users are forced to design their structures and systems with limitations. Until now. As the cloud toolkit to analyze data has evolved, GPUs have stepped in to massively parallel SQL, visualization and machine learning.

To get the most out of their data, successful companies are not focusing on queries and data lakes, they are actively integrating analytics into their operations with a data-first application development approach. Large industrial manufacturing organizations are adopting the agile principles of cloud software companies. The industrial manufacturing development process has not scaled over time. Enterprises are adopting Kubernetes to accelerate the development and the delivery of cloud-native applications. However, sharing a Kubernetes cluster between members of the same team can be challenging. And, sharing clusters across multiple teams is even harder. Kubernetes offers several constructs to help implement segmentation and isolation. However, these primitives can be complex to understand and apply. As a result, it’s becoming common for enterprises to end up with several clusters. Thi...
