RIVERPORT, NS, Aug. 6, 2014 /CNW/ - Rustik Magazine's 'Alimentary Ideas' – Canada's first food and literature festival – launches 13 September 2014 with The New Yorker staff writer Mark Singer, and Bon Appétit deputy editor Scott DeSimon. They join food entrepreneurs and renowned chefs for the day-long event at the Chester Playhouse in Chester, Nova Scotia.
"As the local food movement takes hold across Canada, there is increasing interest in knowing the people who grow and make our food, and hearing their personal stories and inspiration," says Stephen Mostad, organizer and co-founder of Rustik Magazine. "Alimentary Ideas is Rustik's flagship event envisioned to build those relationships and tell those stories."
The event will permit audiences to ask questions and share thoughts with panelists. "We encourage open discussion and a free exchange of ideas to strengthen the local, regional and national food movement, and help build their related economies," Mostad says. "Our speakers bring tremendous experience in these areas."
Alimentary Ideas aspires to be a must-attend event on the global culinary scene, much like the Aspen Food and Wine Classic in Colorado and Ballymaloe literary festival of food and wine in Ireland.
