SUWANEE, Ga., Aug. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Paid TV provider Multiplay is the first to certify the ARRIS Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARRS) DCX525e and is now able to offer this advanced set-top to its subscribers in Brazil.
The new DCX525e supports high-definition video, digital sound, on-demand and interactive services, and features a software-programmable capability to be converted to an IP set-top in the future. All this arrives at a competitive price point.
"Our subscribers want to enjoy a high-quality video experience, on their terms," said Fernando Augusto Pereira, Director of Engineering, Multiplay. "The DCX525e makes that possible, giving our subscribers a choice of on-demand and interactive services. And in the future, as more IP video content becomes available, the technology will evolve to support these advanced experiences."
"The DCX525e has clearly tapped into a strong market need," said Larry Robinson, President, Customer Premises Equipment, ARRIS. "While the DCX525e was introduced less than three months ago, service providers like Multiplay already have recognized that it allows them to support tomorrow's entertainment experiences at a price that makes it easy to upgrade today."

- MPEG-4 support for efficient bandwidth use on HD video applications
- Switched Digital Video (SDV) support, allowing optimization of available bandwidth through selective content delivery
