AT&T Brings U-Verse High-Speed Internet, TV And Voice Services To 5,800 Additional Customer Locations In Houston Area

Project VIP Makes Award-Winning U-verse Services Available to More Customers in June

HOUSTON, Aug. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Thousands more Houston-area residents have a new choice for their television and broadband, thanks to wider availability of AT&T U-verse® services. AT&T* today announced that U-verse expanded to about 5,800 local customer locations in June. More than 122,000 customer locations were added across AT&T's wireline territory in the same month.

The services include AT&T U-verse TV, AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet and AT&T U-verse Voice. The expansion is part of Project Velocity IP (VIP), AT&T's three-year investment plan to expand and enhance its wireless and wireline Internet Protocol (IP) broadband networks. It's being driven by growing customer demand for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud services.

A large amount of the local growth – about 900 customer locations – took place in Splendora during June. However, customer locations also were added in more than 7 other area towns and neighborhoods, including significant numbers in:

  • Houston
  • Waller
  • Dayton

AT&T U-verse offers customers the freedom to watch hit TV shows virtually anywhere – using a TV, computer or smartphone. Customers have access to extensive HD channels, competitive Internet speeds, flexible bundles of services and continued innovation.

"U-verse makes TV, Internet and voice services work together in harmony," said Larry Evans, vice president and general manager of AT&T South Texas. "Through efforts like VIP, we're working to ensure that Houston-area residents and businesses have the services needed for a high quality of life at home and a competitive edge at work."

AT&T U-verse is the fastest-growing TV provider in the U.S.** It grew into a $13 billion annualized revenue stream in fewer than seven years since its launch in 2006. At the end of second quarter 2014, AT&T had over 16.4 million wireline broadband connections (DSL, U-verse High Speed Internet and satellite broadband) including both consumer and business customers. AT&T U-verse recently received three Women's Choice Awards® as "America's Most Recommended Brand among women for Broadband, Television and Phone Service Provider."
