ALEXANDRIA, VA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/07/14 -- CeraTech, the industry's leading producer of durable, high performance, and lowest carbon footprint cement for concrete, announced today the release of a sustainability calculator and related video, which quantify the environmental benefits of using a "green" concrete.
The company produced the sustainability calculator to better enable architects and engineers to quantify the sustainability and life cycle attributes of concrete produced using non-portland cement. The environmental advantages are significant, specifically in terms of eliminating CO2, preserving virgin resources, and conserving critical water resources. The environmental benefits calculator may be accessed at http://www.ceratechinc.com/sustainability.
Although CO2 emissions reduction remains a key environmental priority, conservation of water is a critical and immediate problem. In addition to producing a cement with the lowest carbon footprint, the technology of CERATECH Cement concretes results in an unparalleled, new level of water conservation. CeraTech concretes require less than 50% of the water consumed by traditional portland cement concretes.
The conservation benefits have been independently quantified and audited in CeraTech's ekkomaxx concrete EPD utilizing the Product Category Rule developed by the Carbon Leadership Forum and endorsed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).
"We are pleased to provide contractors, architects, and engineers with a sustainable concrete calculator. We have also provided a video narrative that further explains the technology and quantifies our environmental stewardship in producing sustainable cement construction products," explained Jon Hyman, President and CEO of CeraTech.
CeraTech is a member of the Carbon Leadership Forum, the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, USGBC, and a strong proponent of new sustainability initiatives, codes, and standards like Architecture 2030's RoadMap to Zero Emissions, USGBC's LEED, ICC's IgCC, and the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructures Envision rating system.

The many IoT deployments around the world are busy integrating smart devices and sensors into their enterprise IT infrastructures. Yet all of this technology – and there are an amazing number of choices – is of no use without the software to gather, communicate, and analyze the new data flows. Without software, there is no IT. In this power panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists will look at the protocols that communicate data and the emerging data analy...

As ridesharing competitors and enhanced services increase, notable changes are occurring in the transportation model. Despite the cost-effective means and flexibility of ridesharing, both drivers and users will need to be aware of the connected environment and how it will impact the ridesharing experience. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Timothy Evavold, Executive Director Automotive at Covisint, will discuss key challenges and solutions to powering a ride sharing and/or multimodal model in the a...
