SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The developers at PeakFinder have recently enabled the travel application for Intel® Atom™ tablets for Android*.  Now, a larger mobile audience can seek out fascinating information about the Alps in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France and Slovenia.

This powerful app uses a GPS tracking system so that users can identify and examine the various mountain peaks in this magnificent range from a variety of perspectives.  Users identify their location and the screen renders the range in an outlined and labeled diagram that can be zoomed in on, scrolled and viewed through a virtual binocular function.  Over 30000 peaks are notated and the landscape can be seen in spectacular 360° panoramic view.  With impressive precision, many of the PeakFinder app's features do not require Internet. In addition, it offers an integrated compass and accelerometer.

This optimization lets travelers discover all kinds of remarkable information about this tremendous geographic area right on their high-resolution Android* tablets.  Hours of functionality provide a solid level of performance so that users can explore the gorgeous Alps in a whole new way.  The team at PeakFinder had access to a broad portfolio of technical and business tools through the Intel® Developer Zone.

"The Android* is a great fit for the PeakFinder travel app," says Fabio Soldati, CEO of PeakFinder. "The high-definition screen and sensitive touch capabilities make the interface so easy to use."

PeakFinder is available for immediate download on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.peakfinder.area.alps

About PeakFinder:
