Washington DC / Baltimore MSA Regions See 1,100+ New Construction Projects Released for Bid in the 2nd Quarter of 2014, BidClerk Data Shows

The Washington, DC / Baltimore MSA regions saw more than 1,100 new construction projects released for bid in the 2nd quarter of 2014, BidClerk data showed. The total contract value was $6.1 billion. This compares to a total contract value of $7.2 billion reported by BidClerk for the 1st quarter of 2014.

Nationally, BidClerk reported on $126 billion in commercial construction contracts out-to-bid in the 2nd quarter of 2014, across more than 50,000 projects. BidClerk saw an increase in the total contract values of more than $14 billion compared to the 2nd quarter of 2013. These figures include both public and private work, and it represents the aggregate value of actively bidding commercial construction contract opportunities available in BidClerk's database.

For the Washington DC region, 2nd quarter BidClerk data shows that there were more than 700 new construction projects released for bid, with a combined contract value of $3.7 billion.

One notable project that actively bid in the 2nd quarter of 2014 in the Washington DC MSA region is the RiverFront on the Anacostia. (BidClerk project number 2103808.) It is being built at an estimated cost of $60 million. The developer is MRP Realty (Washington, DC) and the architect is Bowie SK & I Architectural Design Group (Bethesda, MD).

For the Baltimore MSA region, 2nd quarter BidClerk data shows that there were more than 400 new construction projects released for bid, with a combined contract value of $2.4 billion.

A prominent project that actively bid in the 2nd quarter of 2014 for the Baltimore MSA region is the Equitable Trust Building Redevelopment. (BidClerk project number 2622727.) It is being built at an estimated cost of $32 million. The general contractor is ARCO / Murray Construction Company (Oakbrook Terrace, IL) and the developer is JK Equities (Jericho, NY).
