As part of its ongoing effort to streamline processes in order to better serve its customers, the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles in Montpelier announces the launch of its new Driver’s Education Certification Service - its 8th online service in as many years.
Teaming up with the Agency of Education and the state’s eGovernment partner Vermont Information Consortium (VIC), the Vermont DMV is launching the new web service for the 2014-15 school year and the busy season for driver’s education trainings.
“This new service represents a collaborative effort with the Agency of Education to automate the reporting of the annual driver’s education program in Vermont,” said DMV Commissioner Robert Ide. “It will expedite the driver’s ed reporting process, help prevent the potential for fraud, and make information more accessible about high school and driving school programs across the State.”
Following a recommendation from an assessment of the state’s driver’s education program conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2011, the new service will enable driver’s education instructors and state personnel to track and record student driver’s education course completion results electronically. It will also facilitate a more streamlined workflow process among the DMV, the Agency of Education, and schools across the state. Available beginning in August 2014 through www.dmv.vermont.gov, it is expected that the new 24/7 online service will not only be extremely convenient, but will also help save the State significantly in terms of paper and postage costs.
For more information, visit the new service through the Vermont DMV website at www.dmv.vermont.gov, or call the Vermont DMV at 800-529-2535.
Among some of the other popular online services offered by the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles are DMV Express, License Reinstatement, 72 Hour Truck Permitting (IRP-IFTA), Motorcycle Course Registrations, and Motor Vehicle Record retrievals.
