The increase in data consumption has led to the rapid adoption of next-generation LTE wireless networks such as 3G and 4G. The global increase in the number of commercial networks has helped the LTE network become the fastest developing mobile technology. Specific bands have been designated for LTE, but they vary from carrier to carrier.
For instance, Verizon Communications Inc.'s iPhone 5 uses different bands than AT&T Inc.'s iPhone 5. The use of multiple bands that are often widely spaced from one another causes LTE and 3G interference from different RF sources. The deployment of RF filters prevents any interference from frequency bands. Hence, RF components including RF filters are used to support different standards, applications, band combinations, and mobile operators' requirements.
According to the report, one of the major drivers is the increase in wireless consumer devices. There is increased adoption of these devices in emerging markets. The mobility of these devices and advancements in wireless connectivity infrastructure have also contributed to the increased adoption of cellphones and tablets.
