MIAMI, Aug. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Florida MMTC Institute's Regulatory, Industry and Business Seminars are a popular starting point for entrepreneurs, investors, doctors, lawyers and pharmacy owners who are in the planning stage of entering Florida's emerging medical marijuana industry. The Institute is now offering two new seminars -- on August 23 in downtown Miami and September 6 in downtown Jacksonville.
Growing confidence in Amendment 2 -- now polling well over 80% statewide in Florida -- has encouraged entrepreneurs to seek high-quality business education that will prepare them to capture a share of what could be a multi-billion dollar industry in Florida.
The Florida MMTC Institute has fielded questions for months regarding the language of Amendment 2 and and how it might compare to other medical marijuana states. To address these questions, the Institute commissioned Paul Armentano, deputy director of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) and nationally recognized marijuana policy expert, to author a whitepaper. The whitepaper, "Comparing Florida's Amendment 2 to Other States' Medical Cannabis Laws", is now freely available to members of the press and visitors via the Florida MMTC Institute's website.
Aspiring investors and entrepreneurs seeking a Fortune 500-caliber business education can now register for seminars on August 23 at the Adrienne Arsht Center in downtown Miami and September 6 at the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Jacksonville.
"There is an abundance of useful information to use as a guide for Florida's likely regulatory scenarios; the right mix of experts can provide invaluable business guidance," Florida MMTC Director Jan Frel said.
"There is a lot Florida can learn from other states," says Daniel Curtis, president of the Institute. "Florida entrepreneurs can obtain a second mover advantage by studying the industry's development in other states."
Past Institute speakers include:
Eric Stevens, finance director at the United for Care Amendment 2 campaign
Richard Blau, chair of GrayRobinson's Alcohol Beverage and Food Department
Dave McCullick, California dispensary owner and Oaksterdam University lecturer
Michael Grieco, marijuana defense attorney and former prosecutor
Sally Kent, Vicente Sederberg marijuana lawyer
