Investor relations education event returns to Hong Kong, Beijing and Taipei after tremendous success over the last two years

Hong Kong, Aug 11, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Ipreo, a global leader in providing market intelligence, data, and technology solutions to all participants across the capital markets, announced they have again partnered with the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) to offer a world-class educational experience to three cities. The "IR Wisdom Roadshow" is designed to promote the investor relations profession through increased education, awareness and exposure. Three full-day events will be held in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Taipei from Monday, September 22 to Friday, September 26, 2014.

The IR Wisdom Roadshow represents a unique opportunity for investor relations professionals in the region to benefit from an exclusive gathering of influential local, regional and international industry experts and peers. This year's agendas include panels and workshops on IR challenges for both US- and locally listed companies, views from investors on Chinese market trends, reporting to CFOs and the Board, and more, with a top-notch line-up of speakers which includes IROs, CFOs, fund managers, and other industry experts. Event participants will receive a Certificate of IR Achievement to support continued career development for completing the one-day seminar.

The Hong Kong Stock Exchange will again be host to the Hong Kong event. "HKEx have always taken a global approach in the way we support and service our clients," said Tae Yoo, Head of Client Business Development at HKEx. "As a public company ourselves, we recognise the importance of utilising best practice in investor relations, both in China and internationally, and are very pleased to help bring this type of educational programming to our listed companies."

The Taiwan Stock Exchange is a lead supporter of the Taipei event. "TWSE takes a proactive approach to providing our listed companies with the guidance and support they need to grow and succeed," said Michael Lin, President of TWSE. "Ensuring the understanding and use of best practice in investor relations is important to our market and issuers' ongoing success and fair valuation. We are proud to help make this type of educational programming possible for our listed companies."

Event attendees will also have the opportunity to become members of NIRI's Global Subscriber Program, to continue to receive the educational benefits of NIRI content throughout the year. NIRI is the world's largest global IR community with members in 45 countries. NIRI members receive the benefit of access to world-class content through monthly publications, executive alerts, global IR surveys, professional career connections, education programs, and webinars. IR leaders around the globe look to NIRI for best-in-class practice standards and education.

"NIRI is dedicated to advancing the practice of investor relations and the stature of IR practitioners around the world," said Jeffrey D. Morgan, President and CEO of NIRI. "We are delighted to return to China with Ipreo to share collective best practice knowledge directly related to the local Chinese marketplace along with the experience of the global investor relations community."

"The success of this program over the past two years confirms our premise that education - on the markets, on the investment community, on the vital function of IR in public companies - is extremely important to the growth and development of investor relations," said Justin Reynolds, Managing Director of Asia-Pacific for Ipreo. "We are very pleased to be helping to drive that educational programming together with NIRI, and partnering with the Hong Kong Exchange by bringing practical content and expertise directly to the IR practitioners in Hong Kong and Beijing."

WebRTC has had a real tough three or four years, and so have those working with it. Only a few short years ago, the development world were excited about WebRTC and proclaiming how awesome it was. You might have played with the technology a couple of years ago, only to find the extra infrastructure requirements were painful to implement and poorly documented. This probably left a bitter taste in your mouth, especially when things went wrong.

Big Data engines are powering a lot of service businesses right now. Data is collected from users from wearable technologies, web behaviors, purchase behavior as well as several arbitrary data points we’d never think of. The demand for faster and bigger engines to crunch and serve up the data to services is growing exponentially. All organizations that did not originate this moment have a pre-existing culture as well as legacy technology and processes that can be more or less amenable to DevOps implementation. That organizational culture is influenced by the personalities and management styles of Executive Management, the wider culture in which the organization is situated, and the personalities of key team members at all levels of the organization. This culture and entrenched interests usually throw a wrench in the work...
