MEMPHIS, TN -- (Marketwired) -- 08/11/14 -- Writers interested in self-publishing take note: Another success story has surfaced that shows the rewarding results of talented writing and independent book publishing.
Self-publishing company Instant Publisher, along with partner website Writing.com, is pleased to announce writer Amalie Cantor as the winner of their 2014 "Hook Us" writing contest.
"I haven't the words to give adequate thanks to the community of writers there," says a grateful Cantor. "Their appreciation -- and sometimes downright consternation -- is what kept me writing when all I wanted to do was to give up."
Aspiring self-publishing writers submitted their own original work for a chance to win prizes as well as valuable feedback on their work.
Cantor was awarded the $1000 Grand Prize, which she may use to jumpstart the self-publishing process of her book. The prize also includes a personally signed, first print edition of the book, which Instant Publisher will buy for $250 in cash.
Cantor was chosen from a group of 17 other writers who had previously advanced to the second round. They were asked to write a "hook" paragraph which would draw readers in to learn more about their book, followed by a mini-synopsis and concluding paragraph. Entries were submitted to their Writing.com portfolios and could be edited until contest deadline.
Second and third place winners earned Writing.com Gift Points and Merit Badges. These prizes allow winners to use the site's writing resources and services more fully and to help advance their writing careers.
The contest ran from March to May, 2014. It served as an option for self-publishing writers to see how to publish a book in an alternative, exciting way, and grant them new opportunities in book publishing. Instant Publisher hopes the contest gave writers more insight and inspiration into how to publish a book without the need for traditional publishing houses.
Writers interested in future contests which may help them achieve their book publishing goals can follow Instant Publisher at www.instantpublisher.com.

"My role is working with customers, helping them go through this digital transformation. A critical component of any IoT project is what to do with all the data being generated. This data needs to be captured, processed, structured, and stored in a way to facilitate different kinds of queries. Traditional data warehouse and analytical systems are mature technologies that can be used to handle certain kinds of queries, but they are not always well suited to many problems, particularly when there is a need for real-time insights.
