BTS Sales in India to Touch 1.8 Million Units by 2019, Says TechSci Research

Increasing Number of Mobile Subscriptions has led to Higher Installations of Telecom Towers and Associated BTS Solutions Across India 

Expansion of telecom infrastructure, rise in rural mobile subscriptions and growing telecom tower sharing business is spurring the demand for BTS in India. Significant growth in the number of mobile subscribers coupled with increasing data traffic and declining tariffs continue to increase the load on existing telecom infrastructure in India. Moreover, with increasing government restrictions aimed at restricting the harmful effects of radiations due to new tower installations, a growing number of telecom players are opting for tower sharing business model. Tower sharing business is expected to witness robust growth over the next five years with average BTS deployments per telecom tower forecast to increase by over 50% by 2019 compared to 2013.

With growing maturity in the voice market and declining ARPUs, telecom operators are entering into new business opportunities such as mobile data to generate higher revenues. Over the recent years, mobile traffic has increased exponentially in the country, which has significantly added load on existing telecom infrastructure, thereby creating the need for new BTS installations across various cities in the country. Presently, Vodafone and Airtel lead the market in terms of total number of BTS installations in the country.
