WILLIAMSPORT, PENNSYLVANIA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/13/14 -- Easton, the Official Equipment Supplier to Little League Baseball and Softball, announced today that it will once again provide teams in the Little League Baseball World Series (LLBWS) with its top-of-the-line premium products. To help maximize every player's potential, each team will receive bats, batter's gloves, batter's helmets, catcher's gear, backpacks and cleats. Players will also have the opportunity to use the revolutionary yet-to-be-released EASTON® MAKO(TM) TORQ(TM) bat, which delivers truly game-changing technology.
"We're excited to once again be a part of this premier international event. It's especially exciting this year as we get the opportunity to help Little League celebrate its 75th Diamond Anniversary," said Calin Thomas, director of sports marketing, Easton. "A part of this incredible experience is the opportunity for all the teams to experience state-of-the-art EASTON equipment. The fact that so many choose to use our gear is a credit to the innovation athletes expect from us, and this year we've taken it to the next level with the EASTON MAKO TORQ bat. Its game-changing technology helps kids get to the optimal hitting position quicker, resulting in better contact, more hits and greater fun."
Teams will receive EASTON HS9 custom batter's gloves, EASTON MAKO custom catcher's gear, EASTON Z5 custom batter's helmets, EASTON E100XLP backpacks, EASTON MAKO TPU custom cleats and bats, including the MAKO, MAKO XL and MAKO TORQ.
The equipment was designed specifically to help advance performance and protection in youth baseball. To improve pop-time for the throw to second base and mobility behind the plate when blocking balls, the EASTON MAKO catcher's gear features a unique design to work with the athlete's natural in-game motions.
The EASTON MAKO TORQ, which features technology that was used for the first time in baseball at this year's College World Series of Omaha®, includes a 360-degree rotating handle that allows the bottom hand to turn with the batter's swing. This unique innovation puts the batter into the optimal hitting position quicker than conventional bat handles, allowing players to square up to the ball better.
"The EASTON MAKO TORQ delivers something never seen before in baseball," Thomas said. "The bat's rotating handle allows hitters to be shorter to the zone and longer through the zone in a more ideal hitting position. We've already seen incredible excitement around this technology at the collegiate level, and we know that once Little League players have the opportunity to use it, they'll feel the difference."
In addition to providing players with equipment, Easton will also once again set up its advanced HIT LAB(TM) experience, which emphasizes Easton's commitment to the "Science of Hitting." The HIT LAB features an interactive hitting system that uses swing analytics to custom fit a player's swing to the optimal bat. The experience has been enhanced this year to also include Blast Motion Power Sensor Technology, which provides specific analytic feedback including swing speed, plane and efficiency. This data contributes to their overall EASTON Power Efficiency Score that is reviewed with EASTON product experts to help determine the best bat fit and style for the tournament.
As the Official Equipment Supplier to Little League Baseball and Softball, Easton also provided equipment to teams participating in the Little League Baseball Intermediate 50/70 Baseball World Series in Livermore, Calif., the Little League Softball World Series in Portland, Ore., and the Big and Senior League Softball World Series events in Lower Sussex, Del.
All of the products seen on field will be available at www.Easton.com. The EASTON MAKO TORQ is currently available on pre-order and will be available online and at retail stores on September 5.
