LOS ANGELES, Aug. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- American Ballet Theatre (ABT) presents its annual Stars Under The Stars: An Evening in Los Angeles, Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Beverly Hills home of Jeanne and Anthony Pritzker. The event marks the beginning of ABT's celebration of its 75th anniversary. Aaron Sorkin will serve as Honorary Chair, and Co-Chairs include Avery and Andy Barth, Dr. Richard Merkin, and Laura and Jamie Rosenwald. The evening will feature a one-night-only special performance by the world-renowned artists of American Ballet Theatre, including Principal Dancers Veronika Part, Hee Seo, and Cory Stearns, dancing selections from the Company's unrivaled repertoire. A formal dinner will be served by Lucques Catering immediately following the performance.
This is the third consecutive year the Pritzkers have hosted the gala, with all proceeds benefiting ABT. Stars Under The Stars raises funds to support the Company's extensive domestic and international touring, the creation of significant new works, and award-winning education and outreach programs, which are also held in California.
"We would like to thank Jeanne and Anthony Pritzker for their ongoing dedication and support in showcasing our unique vision of live performance," said ABT Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. "We are passionate and committed to presenting the best in dance with a goal of making it available to all."
American Ballet Theatre is proud to have been designated by both houses of the United States Congress as "America's National Ballet Company." For 75 years, ABT has upheld the enduring vision of excellence upon which the Company was founded in 1940. Few dance companies can equal the quality of ABT's productions, the range of its repertory, or the extent of its education programming.
ABT has been home to many of ballet's legendary stars and is renowned for its lavish productions of full-length ballets including Swan Lake, Giselle, La Bayadere, and Romeo and Juliet. With a Company of 90 of the world's most celebrated dancers, ABT performs for audiences of more than 400,000 each year in New York City, Los Angeles, across the country, and around the world.
