KAMOURASKA, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 08/16/14 -- Department of Canadian Heritage
The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced $59,040 in support for Tetes d'affiche (Headliners), a travelling exhibition of the Musee regional de Kamouraska. This funding, provided through the Museums Assistance Program, is being used to support the production, presentation and circulation of this unprecedented exhibition, which focuses on women's history in Canada at the turn of the 20th century from a new perspective-that of women's hats.
-- Tetes d'affiche is being shown at the Musee regional de Kamouraska from May 17 to September 1, 2014. It will then circulate throughout Canada, including a stint at Ottawa's Vanier Museopark. -- The 600-m2 travelling exhibition features around 60 hats and a mosaic of prominent women who have left their mark on Canada's history. -- The project has also developed an educational program for the travelling exhibition.
"I am delighted that our Government is supporting this exhibition of the Musee regional de Kamouraska, which lets Canadians learn more about the contribution of women to our history."
-The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
"The Musee regional de Kamouraska wishes to thank the Department of Canadian Heritage for the financial support that made this exhibition possible. This funding has helped a local museum produce an exhibition of national quality, develop expertise in its field, and maintain jobs in a region struggling with high unemployment."
-Yves Sevigny, Director, Musee regional de Kamouraska
