NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - August 18, 2014) - The new α5100 mirrorless digital camera is a step up from the α5000. It features a 24.3MP APS-C Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor with a BIONZ X image processor, Fast Hybrid AF, full HD XAVC S video and Wi-Fi/NFC capabilities. The α5100 is available as a body-only, or as a black or white body kit with the 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Retractable E-mount lens. The BIONZ X processor combines with the 24.3MP sensor to deliver high-quality imagery with area-specific noise reduction, minimized diffraction, and faithful detail reproduction. The α5100 increases the sensitivity range to ISO 100-25600 -- up from ISO 100-16000 of its predecessor. The sensor also features a gapless on-chip lens design to increase light-collecting efficiency with improved edge-to-edge sharpness.

The Sony α5100 utilizes the same Fast Hybrid AF as its big brother, the α6000, with 179 wide-area focal plane phase-detection AF points and 25 contrast-detection points. Touch Focus and Touch Shutter allow you to tap anywhere on the rear touchscreen to focus and take a photo. Continuous AF and AE are maintained for up to 6 fps continuous, and Fast Hybrid AF remains active while shooting video as well.

Full 1080p HD video recording is possible at 50 Mbps, as well as 720p120 recording in the high-quality XAVC S codec. The Marker Setting helps you frame your final shot by displaying a center marker, guide frame, aspect marker, and safety zone on the LCD screen. Zebra and focus peaking tools also enhance more controlled shooting.

The 3.0" LCD screen also features a 180° upward tilting design for easily composing self-portraits, or "selfies." A three-second countdown is displayed on the screen, giving you ample time to put on your best face, while an in-camera Soft Skin Effect helps to minimize the appearance of skin blemishes, and the built-in flash can add fill light if needed.

The α5100 has built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, with NFC technology, making it fast and easy to send photos to a smartphone, tablet, or other compatible device. With the free PlayMemories Mobile app for iOS and Android, you can also control your camera's shutter remotely from your smart device, as well as direct-upload photos to social media sites, retouch portraits by softening and brightening skin, and add catchlights to eyes. Read more about the Sony α5100 camera here:  http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1076396-REG/sony_ilce_5100b_alpha_a5100_mirrorless_digital.html

There is an ever-growing explosion of new devices that are connected to the Internet using “cloud” solutions. This rapid growth is creating a massive new demand for efficient access to data. And it’s not just about connecting to that data anymore. This new demand is bringing new issues and challenges and it is important for companies to scale for the coming growth. And with that scaling comes the need for greater security, gathering and data analysis, storage, connectivity and, of course, the...
A critical component of any IoT project is the back-end systems that capture data from remote IoT devices and structure it in a way to answer useful questions. Traditional data warehouse and analytical systems are mature technologies that can be used to handle large data sets, but they are not well suited to many IoT-scale products and the need for real-time insights. At Fuze, we have developed a backend platform as part of our mobility-oriented cloud service that uses Big Data-based approache...
