HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania National Guard is scheduled to host a free public open house at Muir Army Airfield, Fort Indiantown Gap, Lebanon County, on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Opening ceremonies begin at 11 a.m., and the event will continue until to 4 p.m. The entrance to the event will be located at the corner of Fisher Avenue and Smathers Road.
"We chose this theme, 'The Value of the National Guard,' to highlight two things—our capabilities, and our cost-effectiveness. I'm extending an invitation to all members of our community to come and enjoy the day while discovering the value of the Pennsylvania National Guard and Fort Indiantown Gap," said Pennsylvania adjutant general Maj. Gen. Wesley Craig.
This family-friendly event will feature: helicopters, tanks, trucks, a rock wall, a bounce house, food vendors, historical vehicle dedications, and live music performances by the USO Troupe and the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast. The Pennsylvania National Guard military museum will also be open for the event.
This event will be held rain or shine. For more information, visit the event website at www.gapmwr.com, or call 717-861-8829.
