Recipients in Indonesia this year were selected from amongst 80 shortlisted candidates, ranging from talented young entrepreneurs to experienced industrialists. The final 12 were announced by Enterprise Asia at a grand awards ceremony in Jakarta, where all winners were presented with their trophies and certificates by the Chairman of Enterprise Asia, Tan Sri Dr Fong Chan Onn.

The judging structure of the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards is amongst the toughest in the word. This incorporates pre-screening by Enterprise Asia's team of analysts, compulsory site audits and interviews with each of the 80 shortlisted candidates as well as verification by the official accountants, RSM AAJ Associates.

As a winner from the Outstanding Category, President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), Ignasius Jonan quoted, "The most effective way to lead is by giving example".

The Indonesian chapter of the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards enters its 6th year, and through the awards, Enterprise Asia hopes to encourage and stimulate economic growth in the region.

Dr Fong explained that, "the APEA is aimed at promoting entrepreneurship; by receiving this recognition, it's not just glory for these deserving entrepreneurs, but also motivation and encouragement to them, to continue what they are doing and taking their businesses to the next level. In doing so, not only are they growing their empire, they're also providing more business and employment opportunity to the locals, and it is this element which spurs the country's economy forward".

The awards were conferred at an invitation only awards ceremony at JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta. The ceremony was graced by Dr Ir. Muhammad Taufiq, State Minister Expert for International Relationship, Ministry of Cooperatives & SMEs, Indonesia, accompanied by the Chairman of Enterprise Asia, Tan Sri Dr Fong Chan Onn, President of Enterprise Asia, Dato' William Ng as well as Lt. Eighty percent of a data scientist’s time is spent gathering and cleaning up data, and 80% of all data is unstructured and almost never analyzed. Cognitive computing, in combination with Big Data, is changing the equation by creating data reservoirs and using natural language processing to enable analysis of unstructured data sources. This is impacting every aspect of the analytics profession from how data is mined (and by whom) to how it is delivered. This is not some futuristic vision: it's ha...

It's easy to assume that your app will run on a fast and reliable network. The reality for your app's users, though, is often a slow, unreliable network with spotty coverage. What happens when the network doesn't work, or when the device is in airplane mode? You get unhappy, frustrated users. An offline-first app is an app that works, without error, when there is no network connection.
