HONOLULU, Aug. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A deserving local veteran and his family received a surprise of a lifetime when greeted with news that they were selected for a major home renovation. He was selected because of his career in the military, and his dedication to our country and the local community. Described by his fellow nominees as the most deserving, the veteran continues to serve while simultaneously providing foster care to children in need. During a 2005 deployment in Iraq, he was severely wounded, enduring over 20 surgeries and 3 years of rehabilitation. Despite hardships, the family opens their home to many children, and they plan to continue as long as they are able.
Along with Brookfield Homes Hawai'i, several local businesses are involved to make this renovation possible. Construction begins on Wednesday, August 20th and is expected to be complete by Sunday, August 24th. "We are honored to be selected to help this family who has helped so many others," said Jeffrey Prostor, president of Brookfield Homes Hawai'i. "Renovating their home for comfort and functionality will show our gratitude from our island community and continued goodwill of Hawaii."
The renovation is being filmed as a special for television with a closed set. The show is scheduled to air across major cable networks this fall.
