SUMMERSIDE, PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND -- (Marketwired) -- 08/20/14 -- The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, today released the following statement today after visiting the Canada Border Services Agency's (CBSA) Atlantic Centre for Arming Training (ACAT) at the Atlantic Police Academy in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Minister Blaney met with officers and instructors at ACAT, where officers are attending an intense four-week duty firearm course. Officers provided a demonstration at the firing range, which included a scenario-based training activity simulating real-life situations.
"Our government is ensuring that CBSA front-line officers receive the highest level of training possible," said Minister Blaney. "The tour of the facility this morning was an excellent opportunity for me to see the challenges our border services officers face as they work to become professionally trained and qualified to carry a duty firearm."
"I found employees were keen to demonstrate the skills they have acquired," Minister Blaney said. "Our front-line officers need to be agile and well-equipped to deliver on the Agency's vision for a modern law enforcement agency. The professionalism, skill-level, and commitment to excellence that the officers and instructors demonstrated were impressive."
"I would like to thank the ACAT instructors and the Atlantic Police Academy for an informative experience while in Summerside."

Data is an unusual currency; it is not restricted by the same transactional limitations as money or people. In fact, the more that you leverage your data across multiple business use cases, the more valuable it becomes to the organization. And the same can be said about the organization’s analytics. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Bill Schmarzo, CTO for the Big Data Practice at EMC, will introduce a methodology for capturing, enriching and sharing data (and analytics) across the organizati...
