LINCOLN, Neb., Aug. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Bulu Box was awarded Best Culture and CTO Caitlin Bales brought home Technologist of the Year at the 2014 Silicon Prairie News Awards on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Midland Theater in Kansas City, Missouri.
"There is never a day I dread going to work," said Bulu Box Co-Founder and CMO Stephanie Jarrett in the team's acceptance speech of the Best Culture award, "because this team is a family."
The Silicon Prairie News Awards are held to honor both companies and individuals in the Silicon Prairie for their products, leadership and contributions to the community. Finalist nominations are made by the Silicon Prairie community, who then vote for the winners in each category along with a panel of entrepreneurial experts.
Bulu Box and its team received four nominations for the 2014 Silicon Prairie News Awards, including Startup of the Year. Growth for Bulu Box has included a staff of 10 employees, 10,000 monthly subscribers, 150,000 products shipped and more than $1.2 million in revenue. The Bulu Crew was also nominated and won for Best Culture in the award's first year.
Winning Technologist of the Year, Bulu Box CTO Caitlin Bales was recognized for improving the Bulu Box customer experience and implementing recurring subscriptions for the company. Bales took over as CTO at Bulu Box after only 5 months as a developer intern, turning down a job at Microsoft to take the position. CEO and Co-Founder Paul Jarrett was nominated for Executive of the Year for his outstanding leadership of the Bulu Box team and his vital role in raising the company's recent round of funding of over $2MM. Jarrett previously won Pipeline's Innovator of the Year award in January 2014.
