Photography News: Fujifilm's Newest Point-and-Shoot Features an All-New Real Time Viewfinder, Dual Control Rings, and a Classic Chrome Film-Simulation Mode

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - August 26, 2014) - Succeeding last year's X20, Fujifilm has just announced the new X30 digital camera that brings with it a range of refinements well suited to the advanced point-and-shoot market. Opting for a new high-resolution electronic viewfinder versus the previous optical viewfinders, the Fuji X30 adds a 0.65x-magnification 2.36m-dot OLED Real Time Viewfinder with adaptive brightness and orientation settings and a display lag time of just 0.005 of a second. Further enhancing viewing capabilities, this new camera incorporates a larger 3.0" 920k-dot rear LCD screen, which features a tilting design to better facilitate working from low shooting angles. Among other handling improvements, this model also integrates a second control ring surrounding the lens to provide more intuitive control over aperture and shutter-speed settings. Carried over from its predecessor, the Fujifilm X30 features the same 12MP 2/3" X-Trans CMOS II sensor and EXR Processor II, which combine to realize faster continuous shooting up to 12 fps; Intelligent Hybrid AF, which focuses as quickly as 0.06 of a second; and full HD 1080p60 movie recording at 36Mbps. The same Fujinon 4x optical zoom lens is featured here, too, and provides a 35mm equivalent focal-length range of 28-112mm, along with a variable maximum aperture of f/2.0-2.8 and four-stop-effective optical image stabilization. Read all about the Fuji X30 digital camera in Silver here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1077799-REG/fujifilm_16437695_fujifilm_x30_digital_camera.html

Under the hood, a new film simulation mode has been added -- Classic Chrome -- which delivers nostalgic, muted tones with rich color depth. This mode serves to complement the range of other Fujifilm film-inspired simulation modes, as well as a palette of other creative shooting effects. Additionally, for extended shooting sessions, a new battery has been added that is capable of delivering approximately 470 shots per charge. Featuring a durable magnesium-alloy body, the X30 is available in Black or Silver.

More and more brands have jumped on the IoT bandwagon. We have an excess of wearables – activity trackers, smartwatches, smart glasses and sneakers, and more that track seemingly endless datapoints. However, most consumers have no idea what “IoT” means. Creating more wearables that track data shouldn't be the aim of brands; delivering meaningful, tangible relevance to their users should be. We're in a period in which the IoT pendulum is still swinging. Initially, it swung toward "smart for smar...
