BOULDER, CO and SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - August 26, 2014) - SolidFire, the leader in all-flash storage systems built for the Next Generation Data Center, today introduced the latest addition to its Agile Infrastructure (AI) family of converged infrastructure offerings. Built with SolidFire's all-flash storage system at the foundation, AI incorporates industry-leading technology from VMware and Cisco into a pre-validated reference design. The combined solution enables accelerated deployment of a dynamic IT infrastructure that allows for unprecedented consolidation of mixed application workloads onto a single platform.
With AI for Virtual Infrastructure, SolidFire has uniquely demonstrated the ability for enterprises to easily and efficiently accommodate the demands of mixed workloads from a single storage platform. Leveraging SolidFire's unique QoS capabilities, storage policies can be provisioned and enforced to isolate each workload while running simultaneously within a shared infrastructure. Demonstrating the mixed workload capabilities of architecture through the validation process, concurrent operations run on the AI design included:
- Boot storm of 200 VMware Horizon View desktops
- 2 hosted Oracle OLTP database workloads running approximately 230,000 TPM
- MongoDB job running 70 concurrent threads
- Inline data reduction, including deduplication, compression and thin provisioning, driving 13.5x efficiency rates across all three workloads
"In the past, flash arrays have been most commonly deployed in single application deployment models. To move beyond this phase, flash systems must prove their ability to reliably handle mixed data center workload configurations while still ensuring that every application gets the performance it needs," said Eric Burgener, Flash Storage Research Director at IDC. "Solutions like SolidFire's Agile Infrastructure that incorporate performance, scalability, enterprise-class data services and granular QoS controls are best suited for the mixed workload consolidation that allows customers to fully benefit from the secondary economic benefits of flash, which include far fewer devices, significantly reduced energy and floor space requirements, fewer servers to drive storage performance, and lower software license costs (due to needing fewer servers)."
"Enterprise IT departments are under considerable pressure to deliver IT services with greater speed, agility and efficiency than ever before," said SolidFire's Founder and CEO Dave Wright. "AI for Virtual Infrastructure provides enterprises with a proven roadmap for deployment that takes advantage of the scalability, automation and guaranteed performance control native to SolidFire's all-flash array. With AI, customers confidently consolidate mixed workloads onto a single platform in significantly less time, with less space and for less money than alternative converged infrastructure offerings."
The second in a series of Agile Infrastructure (AI) designs, AI for Virtual Infrastructure joins SolidFire's existing AI for OpenStack offering. With SolidFire AI, IT departments can confidently design and deploy a dynamic IT infrastructure to help them achieve greater infrastructure agility, automation, predictability and scale.
SolidFire will be demonstrating AI for Virtual Infrastructure through August 27, 2014 in booth #1629 at VMworld in San Francisco. Learn more about AI for Virtual Infrastructure, email [email protected] or visit the SolidFire AI solutions page to learn more about how SolidFire delivers true storage agility to the Next Generation Data Center.
SolidFire is the market leader in all-flash storage systems built for the next generation data center. Leveraging SolidFire's all-flash architecture, with volume-level Quality of Service (QoS) controls, customers now can guarantee storage performance to thousands of applications within a shared infrastructure. Coupling this functionality with in-line data reduction techniques and system-wide automation results in substantial capital and operating cost savings relative to traditional disk and basic all-flash storage systems.

While some vendors scramble to create and sell you a fancy solution for monitoring your spanking new Amazon Lambdas, hear how you can do it on the cheap using just built-in Java APIs yourself. By exploiting a little-known fact that Lambdas aren’t exactly single threaded, you can effectively identify hot spots in your serverless code. In his session at 20th Cloud Expo, David Martin, Principal Product Owner at CA Technologies, will give a live demonstration and code walkthrough, showing how to o...

DevOps is being widely accepted (if not fully adopted) as essential in enterprise IT. But as Enterprise DevOps gains maturity, expands scope, and increases velocity, the need for data-driven decisions across teams becomes more acute. DevOps teams in any modern business must wrangle the ‘digital exhaust’ from the delivery toolchain, "pervasive" and "cognitive" computing, APIs and services, mobile devices and applications, the Internet of Things, and now even blockchain.

DevOps is often described as a combination of technology and culture. Without both, DevOps isn't complete. However, applying the culture to outdated technology is a recipe for disaster; as response times grow and connections between teams are delayed by technology, the culture will die. A Nutanix Enterprise Cloud has many benefits that provide the needed base for a true DevOps paradigm. In his Day 3 Keynote at 20th Cloud Expo, Chris Brown, a Solutions Marketing Manager at Nutanix, will explore t...

All organizations that did not originate this moment have a pre-existing culture as well as legacy technology and processes that can be more or less amenable to DevOps implementation. That organizational culture is influenced by the personalities and management styles of Executive Management, the wider culture in which the organization is situated, and the personalities of key team members at all levels of the organization. This culture and entrenched interests usually throw a wrench in the work...
