FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Aug. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- An internationally recognized expert in the field of urology and reproductive health, new CMO Dr. Lawrence Hakim will provide invaluable guidance as EZDoctor (https://ezdoctor.com/) undergoes expansion. A respected healthcare educator and communicator, Dr. Hakim will contribute to EZDoctor's mission of providing transparent access to healthcare pricing information.
"As a physician, author and educator, I am excited to work with the team at EZDoctor on their quest to ensure the highest levels of integrity in healthcare," said Dr. Hakim. "Consumers deserve to have more information at their disposal when making decisions about their healthcare needs, whether it's choosing a general practitioner for a routine checkup or something far more serious. EZDoctor is taking the lead in providing that information."
Dr. Hakim brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role, which will include ensuring the accuracy of EZDoctor's medical data. He will also be instrumental in the launch of several new features, among them "Ask the EZDoctor," a live message board open a few hours each day and moderated by a team of doctors representing several specialties. Dr. Hakim will oversee the physician team as well as host several Q&A sessions.
Today, Dr. Hakim is chairman of the Department of Urology at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida. He has been on the clinic's faculty since 1999. Previously, he was associate professor of urology and director of infertility at the University of Miami School of Medicine.
"Dr. Hakim is a world-renowned surgeon, but more importantly, he shares our goal of improving efficiency, transparency and effectiveness in healthcare," said David Marsidi, CEO of EZDoctor. "Consumers today often feel powerless and voiceless in the healthcare marketplace. We want to change that perception. We're creating a central destination for medical cost information and physician-specific data to equip patients with the information to make the best decisions for their health."
The wider medical community has recognized the significant contributions of Dr. Hakim to the understanding of urological health. His specialties include male and female sexual dysfunction, erectile dysfunction, male infertility and hormone replacement therapy. From 2009 to 2011, Dr. Hakim served on the Board of Directors of the Florida Urological Society; he was an Executive Board member of the Society of Urologic Prosthetic Surgeons from 2009 to 2010.
Dr. Hakim has been extensively published in peer-reviewed medical journals, and he has presented his research and conducted surgical training seminars both nationally and internationally. Dr. Hakim is co-author of "The Couple's Disease: Finding the Cure for Your 'Lost' Love Life," a highly regarded and bestselling work for general audiences on the topic of sexual dysfunction in men and women.
In addition to comparative pricing data on individual doctors and an appointment booking function, EZDoctor provides an informative blog and feature articles on many aspects of healthy living.
