LAKE COUNTRY, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/27/14 -- Department of Canadian Heritage
The Okanagan's largest art show, the Lake Country ArtWalk, will once again welcome visitors and art lovers, thanks to an investment of $7,600 under the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program.
This multi-arts festival highlights the work of established and emerging artists from throughout the community, and features dance, music and theatrical performances, as well as interactive workshops.
The Honourable Ron Cannan, Member of Parliament (Kelowna-Lake Country), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
-- The 21st Lake Country ArtWalk will take place on September 6 and 7, 2014. -- The festival showcases more than 400 fine and performing artists, and features 3,000 original works of art spanning many genres, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, quilting, photography and ceramics. -- The mandate of the Lake Country ArtWalk is to support artists in British Columbia's interior; provide the latest and best artworks to view, buy and enjoy; and offer a family-friendly arts festival. -- The Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
"Our Government understands the important role that local festivals play in bringing Canadians together to share and enjoy cultural experiences. The Lake Country ArtWalk not only supports the local economy, but it also strengthens the community and promotes the work of local artists."
-The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
"The Lake Country ArtWalk has been a community tradition for more than 20 years, drawing thousands of eager art lovers from British Columbia and beyond. I look forward to exploring the wonderful creative works produced by our local artists and artisans again this year."
-The Honourable Ron Cannan, Member of Parliament (Kelowna-Lake Country)
"The support from Canadian Heritage makes a tremendous difference in our ability to offer a high-quality arts festival at Lake Country ArtWalk.
