3 Plastic Surgery Myths - Busted!

Plastic surgery from expert surgeons like Dr. J is more popular than ever, yet some myths about aesthetic treatment have still gone unchecked...until now

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In Southern California, plastic surgery has long been embraced as an effective resource for those looking to enhance their physical appearance at every stage of life. While more and more people are educating themselves as to what plastic surgery entails, there are a few stubborn myths that simply refuse to die, and respected plastic surgeon, Payam, M.D., F.I.C.S, F.A.C.S is here to help settle the confusion by examining three of the most common plastic surgery myths …

  1. Cosmetic Surgery and Plastic Surgery Have the Same Meaning – Because many plastic surgery procedures are done for cosmetic reasons, many people assume that cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery mean the same thing. However, this isn't actually the case – and the mistake could lead to serious results. A "cosmetic surgeon" could technically be any surgeon who performs a treatment for cosmetic reasons, but a plastic surgeon must be board certified in plastic surgery from the American Board of Plastic Surgeons.

Medical experts like Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Jarrah-Nejad (known more familiarly as Dr. J) are often members of other elite medical organizations as well. In fact, patients of the esteemed surgeon are frequently put at ease upon learning that he is even a distinguished diplomate of both the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons.
  2. Plastic Surgery is About Vanity – This is one of the most frustrating myths about plastic surgery, because it has led some to criticize and look down on those who elect to enhance their appearance through plastic surgery. The truth is that every person's reasons for undergoing plastic surgery are different. Far from being superficial, in many cases procedures like otoplasty from a Beverly Hills-based surgeon, which correct issues with ears in both child and adult patents, have been found to have very positive effects on one's self-image.

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports that research published in the journal, Clinical Psychological Science, shows that plastic surgery patients often experience more joy in life, and perhaps even more importantly, a higher sense of satisfaction and increased self-esteem.
  3. Plastic Surgery is Only for Rich Celebrities – While the media likes to obsess over famous faces getting plastic surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that in 2012, 14.6 million cosmetic surgery procedures were performed in the US – and the vast majority weren't performed on wealthy and famous patients, but ordinary folks who are looking to open the door to more opportunities in their lives. Further still, by decreasing recovery time through procedures like rapid recovery breast augmentation, top surgeons like Dr. J are able to bring the cost down to a level that most patients find very manageable – with results that are utterly invaluable.

DevOps theory promotes a culture of continuous improvement built on collaboration, empowerment, systems thinking, and feedback loops. But how do you collaborate effectively across the traditional silos? How can you make decisions without system-wide visibility? How can you see the whole system when it is spread across teams and locations? How do you close feedback loops across teams and activities delivering complex multi-tier, cloud, container, serverless, and/or API-based services?
In past @ThingsExpo presentations, Joseph di Paolantonio has explored how various Internet of Things (IoT) and data management and analytics (DMA) solution spaces will come together as sensor analytics ecosystems. This year, in his session at @ThingsExpo, Joseph di Paolantonio from DataArchon, will be adding the numerous Transportation areas, from autonomous vehicles to “Uber for containers.” While IoT data in any one area of Transportation will have a huge impact in that area, combining sensor...

Cloud based infrastructure deployment is becoming more and more appealing to customers, from Fortune 500 companies to SMEs due to its pay-as-you-go model. Enterprise storage vendors are able to reach out to these customers by integrating in cloud based deployments; this needs adaptability and interoperability of the products confirming to cloud standards such as OpenStack, CloudStack, or Azure. As compared to off the shelf commodity storage, enterprise storages by its reliability, high-availabil...
