Transfer Content Back to the Station or Cloud With FS-H Portable Recorders’ Built-in FTP

VITEC, a worldwide leader in advanced video solutions, today announced new firmware providing footage transfer back to the station or cloud service using Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity for its Focus FS-H50, FS-H60, and FS-H70 portable H.264 video recorders. For broadcasters, this new FTP feature means H.264 recorded clips can be selected and transferred for immediate sharing back at the station for ultra-fast delivery of breaking news. For sports, education, medical and even surveillance applications, FS-H becomes an autonomous recorder able to capture, record and easily upload contents to a remote location.

“With this latest firmware addition, our FS-H portable recorders now bring advanced connection features to any camera available on the market,” said Richard Bernard, Product manager at VITEC. “Being able to capture, record and upload content using a single device definitely eases workflow in a large range of applications such as broadcasting breaking news, lecture capture, medicine, security and more.”

The Focus FS-H series captures .MOV/.MP4 clips to SDHC cards and offers streaming capabilities. Clips can be easily edited or directly uploaded to network or video platforms for immediate sharing. Recorded content can be uploaded with a Wi-Fi or Ethernet LAN adapter, which enables users to preview live video input, access/upload recorded clips, operate the recorder, and change settings.

But such a term can also lump together diverse and even competing practices, technologies, and priorities to the point where important distinctions are glossed over and lost.
