Rentrak Announces Official Worldwide Box Office Results for Weekend of August 31, 2014

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Rentrak (NASDAQ: RENT), the leader in precisely measuring movies and TV everywhere, today announced the official worldwide weekend box office estimates for the weekend of Aug. 31, 2014, as compiled by the company's theatrical measurement services.

As the trusted official standard for real-time worldwide box office reporting, Rentrak provides the only theater-level reporting in the world. Customers are able to analyze admissions and gross results around the world using Rentrak's suite of products.

Rentrak's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented, "Fox's "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" continues its domination of 29 international territories leading the charge with an impressive $51.2 million and thus bringing its global total to over $600 million.  On the superhero side of things, the late summer hit "Guardians of the Galaxy" adds another $19.7 million in 68 international markets and now boasts a worldwide nearing $550 million."
