Intel Developer Forum 2014
Clavister (Nasdaq:CLAV), a leader in high-performance, high-availability network security for the telecom, cloud and enterprise sectors, is demonstrating its LTE Small Cell Security solution for future generation mobile networks at the Intel Developer Forum 2014, in San Francisco, which runs September 9th – 11th.
Clavister’s solution is a virtualized environment running on Intel® products with full support for SDN/NFV networking, which greatly reduces deployment time and costs. It features next-generation firewalling for packet core security; encryption from the eNode B to small cells, for secure data backhaul; and enables intelligent mobile data offloading to WiFi networks.
The solution provides authenticated, encrypted connectivity from multiple small cell base stations to 4G and LTE mobile cores, protecting both the network and subscribers’ data traffic against unauthorised access and interception. This addresses the need to secure the fast-growing number of small base stations being deployed to address subscribers’ bandwidth needs in public areas.
Jim Carlsson, CEO of Clavister said: “It is estimated that by 2016 there will be more than 500,000 micro and small cell sites globally that cannot be physically secured as easily as conventional mobile base stations. It’s critical that this issue is addressed to ensure that future generation networks are robustly secured against attack and interception. Our LTE Small Cell Security solution provisions virtualized network security zones for small cells, encrypting subscriber traffic to mitigate the risks of breaches. By working with Intel to deliver the solution on its x86 architecture, we can ensure future networks are fast, scalable and secure.”
Clavister’s LTE Small Cell Security solution is based on the company’s Virtual Security Gateway next-generation firewall (NGFW). The security vendor has seen numerous deployments of the product throughout 2014 seeing it enter new markets globally with the product. Recent deployments include a government contract in Brazil and a leading data centre in Croatia.
Clavister’s Virtual Series Gateways enable the highest levels of throughput, and offer up to six nines (99.9999%) availability for carrier-grade applications, enabling the most demanding mobile network environments to be secured with unmatched performance and low latency.
Clavister is a member of the Intel® Network Builders program (networkbuilders.intel.com), a cross-industry initiative that enables telcos to build and manage business-critical infrastructures, with lower capital and operating costs.

The security needs of IoT environments require a strong, proven approach to maintain security, trust and privacy in their ecosystem. Assurance and protection of device identity, secure data encryption and authentication are the key security challenges organizations are trying to address when integrating IoT devices. This holds true for IoT applications in a wide range of industries, for example, healthcare, consumer devices, and manufacturing. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Lancen LaChance, vic...
