CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y., Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- In an attempt to stimulate patronage of the arts, last year, Richard Reed began the "Art Everywhere" initiative. In 2014, this initiative placed 25 pieces of art upon 30,000 billboards for six weeks across the UK. It was Reed's hope that this would increase local art exhibit attendance and awareness for the arts in the months going forward.
This year, the U.S. decided to follow the initiative and placed 58 pieces across billboards from coast to coast throughout the month of August. Although the purpose is to stimulate support for the arts, it can also have the effect of stimulating better public art in general.
TJ Panell of JMR Graphics commented, "Having quality art placed in front of the eyes of millions of people will most definitely drive the appreciation for art, if nothing else. Exposure to something almost guarantees awareness, but we need more than that. This is a chance to help people realize that visual aesthetics mean more than just an advertisement. Consumers don't only want to see something, they want to feel something. When your vehicle wraps can inspire them, your service is as good as sold."

Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.
