DALLAS, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 09/04/14 -- Vorex, a leader in cloud-based comprehensive professional services automation (PSA) software for the small- to mid-size business (SMB) market, is pleased to announce the expansion of its management team with Stuart Selbst as its new Chief Operations Officer.
A veteran in the IT industry with more than 25 years of experience, and expertise in the professional services automation and managed service provider arenas, Selbst will manage marketing and sales operations, oversee product development, enhance client relationships and develop a channel partner program.
Selbst was named among MSP Mentor's Top 250 Most Influential Industry Executives in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. He was also named to SMB Nation's SMB (small-to-midsize business) Top 150 in 2011, 2012 and 2013. From 2012 to 2014, he served on the Channel Partners Advisory Board.
As one of his first senior responsibilities in new product development, Selbst will oversee the development of Vorex's new managed service provider (MSP) module and ensure it meets the needs of service provider businesses.
MSP's provide delivery of IT support services to businesses, residences or other service providers. The new MSP module will be designed to also work with other underserved service industries that depend on a help desk and dispatching to run their operation.
"Due to repetitive demands from businesses inquiring about a managed service provider module, Vorex has made a strategic decision to enter this market," said Vorex co-founder and CEO Mike Salem. "Stuart Selbst was the obvious candidate for this sensitive position within the company. As a successful business owner, national speaker and a recognized MSP authority, we believe Stuart will be instrumental in the further development of our successful line of PSA solutions, and guide Vorex through this upcoming phase as we enter the MSP market. He knows what service providers want to see in an automation tool, understands their pain points and possesses the insider knowledge of what it takes to make them efficient and profitable."
Vorex is scheduled to launch its new MSP module this fall. Selbst and the company will be previewing the module, as well as exhibiting its other PSA solutions, at the Cloud Partners 2014 Conference in New Orleans on September 7-10 (Booth No. 208).
"Vorex has been providing the best PSA solution in the SMB market for several years now," said Selbst. "Managed service providers have unique needs for a robust PSA solution, particularly in ticketing. Our new MSP module is designed to meet these needs with a simple easy-to-use interface. I am honored and thrilled to join the Vorex team. I look forward to playing a strategic role in the company's growth as we further develop our PSA products and enter the MSP market -- beginning with the Cloud Partners 2014 Conference."
Selbst is a well-respected industry leader, speaker and business coach. Before joining Vorex, Selbst was Managing Partner and Senior Consultant of Stuart Selbst Consulting LLC., a firm that offers executive-level business coaching and consulting to the technology industry. Selbst has coached and consulted hundreds of MSPs and technology firms in the U.S., U.K. and Australia, each of them achieving different levels of success based on their personal and business goals.
He studied business and economics at UCLA and holds technical, engineering and security certifications from Microsoft, Dell, Cisco and SonicWALL. Selbst has worked in large corporate enterprise IT departments as well as starting, building and then selling his own managed services business. During his tenure as CEO of his MSP firm, the company specialized in network design, security and compliance of mid-market businesses. In 2013, Selbst completed the initial level of Six Sigma certification, a proven strategy for process improvement.
Headquartered in the Dallas Area, Vorex is a leader in PSA software that manages core business processes with a comprehensive solution. Vorex PSA is the only cloud-based single comprehensive software for the SMB market offering project management, time and expense tracking, billing and invoicing solutions with an integrated CRM and HR solution. With all the incredible momentum behind the Internet of Things (IoT) industry, it is easy to forget that not a single CEO wakes up and wonders if “my IoT is broken.” What they wonder is if they are making the right decisions to do all they can to increase revenue, decrease costs, and improve customer experience – effectively the same challenges they have always had in growing their business. The exciting thing about the IoT industry is now these decisions can be better, faster, and smarter. Now ...

The Internet of Things is clearly many things: data collection and analytics, wearables, Smart Grids and Smart Cities, the Industrial Internet, and more. Cool platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Intel's Galileo and Edison, and a diverse world of sensors are making the IoT a great toy box for developers in all these areas. In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists discussed what things are the most important, which will have the most profound...

I recently attended and was a speaker at the 4th International Internet of @ThingsExpo at the Santa Clara Convention Center. I also had the opportunity to attend this event last year and I wrote a blog from that show talking about how the “Enterprise Impact of IoT” was a key theme of last year’s show. I was curious to see if the same theme would still resonate 365 days later and what, if any, changes I would see in the content presented.

Apps and devices shouldn't stop working when there's limited or no network connectivity. Learn how to bring data stored in a cloud database to the edge of the network (and back again) whenever an Internet connection is available. In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Ben Perlmutter, a Sales Engineer with IBM Cloudant, demonstrated techniques for replicating cloud databases with devices in order to build offline-first mobile or Internet of Things (IoT) apps that can provide a better, faster user e...

Microservices are a very exciting architectural approach that many organizations are looking to as a way to accelerate innovation. Microservices promise to allow teams to move away from monolithic "ball of mud" systems, but the reality is that, in the vast majority of organizations, different projects and technologies will continue to be developed at different speeds. How to handle the dependencies between these disparate systems with different iteration cycles? Consider the "canoncial problem"...

Culture is the most important ingredient of DevOps. The challenge for most organizations is defining and communicating a vision of beneficial DevOps culture for their organizations, and then facilitating the changes needed to achieve that. Often this comes down to an ability to provide true leadership. As a CIO, are your direct reports IT managers or are they IT leaders? The hard truth is that many IT managers have risen through the ranks based on their technical skills, not their leadership ab...

To capitalize on the ubiquitous disruption driving this transformation, companies must be able to innovate at an increasingly rapid pace. Traditional approaches for driving innovation are now woefully inadequate for keeping up with the breadth of disruption and change facin...
