5 Reasons to Be Excited About SAPPHIRE NOW 2016

SAPPHIRE NOW + ASUG is the event of the year for the SAP® community. SAP will announce and clarify new product releases and roadmaps, while innovative speakers like Steve Wozniak will bring fresh insight into the state of tech today. There will be enterprise vendors to talk to, new products to preview, and plenty of illuminating case studies and presentations to help you plan your next move in the SAP landscape. Here's what we're excited about.

SAP SAPPHIRE NOW Predictions

1.    New SAP S/4HANA Release Announcements: Earlier this year, there were several new features released in SAP S/4HANA 1511 FPS01, adding support for additional industries and new country-specific localization features. We can expect an SAP SAPPHIRE NOW announcement of a major new HANA release within the next year.

2.    Solution Manager Release: After repeated delays, SAP seems poised to launch Solution Manager 7.2 at SAP SAPPHIRE NOW. Look for specifics on new user interfaces, improvements to process management, and information on how the new platform takes advantage of HANA in-memory technology.

3.    Apple Partnership: Although Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak doesn't have much to do with Apple these days, his name is still associated with them in everyone's mind. His SAPPHIRE NOW presentation makes a perfect occasion for SAP to announce their new partnership with Apple. This will help SAP businesses, and developers by making it easier to integrate HANA tools into the iOS platform. Expect to learn more about what this means for the SAP community.

SAP SAPPHIRE NOW Presentations

4.    Carlisle Construction Materials' Path to SAP Business Warehouse powered by SAP HANA

Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Room S331C

This presentation is an excellent case study for anyone contemplating a move to HANA to cope with rapidly growing data computing needs. Carlisle Construction Materials runs a dozen companies, producing a wide range of roofing, insulation, adhesive and other products. These products are sold across multiple channels to a range of commercial and residential construction industries. Needless to say, their transition to SAP HANA was a complex, multi-step process other companies can learn from.

At their presentation, you will learn how Carlisle made the move: from setting up a proof of concept, to evaluating performance and data management, to using a HANA landscape and incorporating SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse and BusinessObjects. The lecture will also touch on the SAP Business Suite on HANA vs. S/4HANA debate, as Carlisle presenters explain their ongoing SAP HANA roadmap.

5.    Demystifying SAP Compliance Management

Wednesday, 2:00 - 2:30 p.m., Booth #823

Compliance rules can seem complex and baffling, but they're there to protect your company, customers and stakeholders.

To master SAP compliance management, organizations need to move beyond individual initiatives for SOX, 21 CFR Part 11 and other compliance regimes and toward an organization-wide approach based on security and compliance best practices. Symmetry Vice President of Security & Controls, Scott Goolik, explains the principles behind compliance, how they differ from cyber security, and how to use GRC software and partner expertise to turn your compliance program from a burden to an asset.

SAP SAPPHIRE NOW has something for everyone. Whether you're looking to network, audition a new SAP hosting provider or just take in some great presentations, there's plenty to do at SAPPHIRE 2016. And when you need a break, don't forget - Orlando is right outside the door!

Don't forget, Symmetry will have a presence at SAPPHIRE! Stop by our In-Booth Networking Happy Hour on Wednesday from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Booth #823.

DevOps is under attack because developers don’t want to mess with infrastructure. They will happily own their code into production, but want to use platforms instead of raw automation. That’s changing the landscape that we understand as DevOps with both architecture concepts (CloudNative) and process redefinition (SRE). Rob Hirschfeld’s recent work in Kubernetes operations has led to the conclusion that containers and related platforms have changed the way we should be thinking about DevOps and...
The Internet of Things will challenge the status quo of how IT and development organizations operate. Or will it? Certainly the fog layer of IoT requires special insights about data ontology, security and transactional integrity. But the developmental challenges are the same: People, Process and Platform. The next XaaS is CICDaaS. Why? Because CICD saves developers a huge amount of time. CD is an especially great option for projects that require multiple and frequent contributions to be integrated. But… securing CICD best practices is an emerging, essential, yet little understood practice for DevOps teams and their Cloud Service Providers. The only way to get CICD to work in a highly secure environment takes collaboration, patience and persistence. Building CICD in the cloud requires rigorous ar...
Companies are harnessing data in ways we once associated with science fiction. Analysts have access to a plethora of visualization and reporting tools, but considering the vast amount of data businesses collect and limitations of CPUs, end users are forced to design their structures and systems with limitations. Until now. As the cloud toolkit to analyze data has evolved, GPUs have stepped in to massively parallel SQL, visualization and machine learning.
"Evatronix provides design services to companies that need to integrate the IoT technology in their products but they don't necessarily have the expertise, knowledge and design team to do so," explained Adam Morawiec, VP of Business Development at Evatronix, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at @ThingsExpo, held Oct 31 – Nov 2, 2017, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
To get the most out of their data, successful companies are not focusing on queries and data lakes, they are actively integrating analytics into their operations with a data-first application development approach. Real-time adjustments to improve revenues, reduce costs, or mitigate risk rely on applications that minimize latency on a variety of data sources. In his session at @BigDataExpo, Jack Norris, Senior Vice President, Data and Applications at MapR Technologies, reviewed best practices to ...
Widespread fragmentation is stalling the growth of the IIoT and making it difficult for partners to work together. Large industrial manufacturing organizations are adopting the agile principles of cloud software companies. The industrial manufacturing development process has not scaled over time. Now that design CAD teams are geographically distributed, centralizing their work is key. With large multi-gigabyte projects, outdated tools have stifled industrial team agility, time-to-market milestones, and impacted P&L stakeholders.

Enterprises are adopting Kubernetes to accelerate the development and the delivery of cloud-native applications. However, sharing a Kubernetes cluster between members of the same team can be challenging. And, sharing clusters across multiple teams is even harder. Kubernetes offers several constructs to help implement segmentation and isolation. However, these primitives can be complex to understand and apply. As a result, it’s becoming common for enterprises to end up with several clusters. Thi...
