IndependenceIT Expands Executive Management Team as Demand for Workspace Automation Accelerates

Appointments Include Microsoft Veteran and Tech Executive Donald Deshaies, who Joins Company as EVP - Sales

BOSTON, MA – IndependenceIT, a workspace automation software platform provider that allows IT departments, service providers and ISVs to easily deliver workspaces, applications and data from any cloud infrastructure, today announced expansion of the company’s management team as demand for workspace automation increases. Appointed to lead IndependenceIT’s sales organization is Microsoft veteran and tech executive, Donald Deshaies. Deshaies joins recent executive team member additions Mark Prestipino, who serves as the company’s chief operating officer and Michael Walsh, who holds the post of executive vice president of product and engineering, to round out the organization.

With a focus on ease-of-use, efficiency, and cost reduction, IndependenceIT has established itself as an innovator in automating the workflow and delivery of applications, workspaces, and data. Recognized as a Gartner “Cool Vendor,” the company’s milestones are extensive and include the recent launch of Cloud Workspace® 5.0, the most powerful solution for software defined data center (SDDC), workspace automation, and app services enablement. Designed for service providers, independent software vendors (ISVs), and enterprises, the solution has been awarded patent number 9,262,200 for its methods and system of provisioning of virtual resources in a mixed-use cloud/virtual environment for multi-platform service delivery.

Leading IndependenceIT’s sales organization as EVP sales, Donald Deshaies encompasses a history of senior leadership and accomplishment in growing and supporting the partner channels for Sage and Microsoft. In his new role, Deshaies brings a wealth of experience to the IndependenceIT management team and will support domestic and international expansion. Deshaies joins IndependenceIT after serving as vice president of channel strategy and management for Sage, a multinational enterprise software company headquartered in the United Kingdom. Prior to Sage, Deshaies served in senior roles including general manager and global director of channel strategy for Microsoft where he was responsible for improving the profitability of the company and its ecosystem of strategic partners in support of business-centric product lines.

“Cloud Workspace by IndependenceIT is uniquely positioned to significantly reduce the burden and cost of deploying, apps, workspaces, and software defined data centers. This alleviates an ongoing challenge for the channel which has not been well addressed by competing solutions. As a result, there is an enormous opportunity for partners to capitalize on the increasing interest in cloud-based infrastructure,” said Donald Deshaies, EVP Sales for IndependenceIT.

Deshaies’ appointment follows Mark Prestipino who recently joined IndependenceIT as chief of operations where he oversees the company’s operational strategy and business growth in established and new markets. Mark has successfully managed companies at all stages of development in both public and private markets, and has an extensive track record of building strong teams, channels, and partnerships. IndependenceIT also recently named Michael Walsh to the team as executive vice president of products and engineering where he is responsible for strategic product development and continued enhancement of the company’s workspace automation platform. Prior to IndependenceIT, Walsh held management positions at IRISmaps, Envista, smartea.ms Inc., AppIQ, and Revit Technology Corporation.

“The strengthening of our management team will be invaluable as we take IndependenceIT to the next stage of growth,” said Seth Bostock, CEO, IndependenceIT. “The timing of these appointments is ideal as demand for workspace automation remains strong, providing significant opportunities for IndependenceIT and its worldwide partner ecosystem.”

"When we talk about cloud without compromise what we're talking about is that when people think about 'I need the flexibility of the cloud' - it's the ability to create applications and run them in a cloud environment that's far more flexible,” explained Matthew Finnie, CTO of Interoute, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 20th Cloud Expo, held June 6-8, 2017, at the Javits Center in New York City, NY.
IoT solutions exploit operational data generated by Internet-connected smart “things” for the purpose of gaining operational insight and producing “better outcomes” (for example, create new business models, eliminate unscheduled maintenance, etc.). The explosive proliferation of IoT solutions will result in an exponential growth in the volume of IoT data, precipitating significant Information Governance issues: who owns the IoT data, what are the rights/duties of IoT solutions adopters towards t...
Wooed by the promise of faster innovation, lower TCO, and greater agility, businesses of every shape and size have embraced the cloud at every layer of the IT stack – from apps to file sharing to infrastructure. The typical organization currently uses more than a dozen sanctioned cloud apps and will shift more than half of all workloads to the cloud by 2018. Such cloud investments have delivered measurable benefits. But they’ve also resulted in some unintended side-effects: complexity and risk. ...
It is ironic, but perhaps not unexpected, that many organizations who want the benefits of using an Agile approach to deliver software use a waterfall approach to adopting Agile practices: they form plans, they set milestones, and they measure progress by how many teams they have engaged. Old habits die hard, but like most waterfall software projects, most waterfall-style Agile adoption efforts fail to produce the results desired. The problem is that to get the results they want, they have to ch...

When growing capacity and power in the data center, the architectural trade-offs between server scale-up vs. scale-out continue to be debated. Both approaches are valid: scale-out adds multiple, smaller servers running in a distributed computing model, while scale-up adds fewer, more powerful servers that are capable of running larger workloads. It’s worth noting that there are additional, unique advantages that scale-up architectures offer. One big advantage is large memory and compute capacity...
