POLITICO Increased Sales Subscriptions by 46 Percent with Bluewolf and Salesforce CPQ

Leading political news website delivering CPQ sessions at Dreamforce 2016

NEW YORK, Sept. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Global consulting agency and Salesforce Global Strategic Consulting Partner Bluewolf (www.bluewolf.com), an IBM Company, announced its successful collaboration with POLITICO, one of the nation's leading political news websites. Bluewolf implemented Salesforce CPQ (Configure-Price-Quote) to provide POLITICO an accurate view of its sales pipeline, streamline the quoting process for its sales representatives and customers, and help them get closer to their key readership. In the past year since implementing Salesforce CPQ, the site has added another 700 subscriptions, nearly half of its previous total from the first five years.

"We needed a solution that would standardize price quotes, help with order management, and better support business renewals," said Tom McGean, Business Operations Manager and Senior Salesforce Business Analyst of POLITICO. "Bluewolf gave us the business insights necessary to select the right tools, design a superior process, and build a Salesforce CPQ solution quickly."

POLITICO will be in attendance at Dreamforce 2016, the world's largest software event, with McGean scheduled to deliver two CPQ sessions based on the company's experience with Salesforce and Bluewolf:

  • "Accelerate Sales with Salesforce CPQ" session on Wednesday, October 5, 12-12:40 p.m. PDT, Marriott Marquis Hotel, Yerba Buena Salon 4-6.
    • Attendees will learn how to supercharge their CRM with Salesforce CPQ so you can close deals faster. Register for this session.
  • "CPQ Insider: Improve Quoting to Close More Deals, Faster" session on Thursday, October 6, 1-1:40 p.m. PDT, the Palace Hotel, Grand Ballroom Rose.

POLITICO has been on a fast growth trajectory, quickly growing its reach throughout the United States and into Europe. The company had expanded its offerings to 14 different subscriptions across different policy verticals and topics, but generating a price quote for a subscription service was becoming increasingly complex. Rates varied depending on the type of organization, the number of users, and the various services bundled into the subscription. Additionally, sales reps were creating their own price proposals and did not have set guidelines for offering customer discounts.

POLITICO needed a solution that would standardize price quotes, help with order management, and better support business renewals. Bluewolf had previously consolidated three of POLITICO's Salesforce organizations into a single system; to continue innovation on their systems and processes, Bluewolf Beyond, an agency-style managed service that works in live cloud environments, configured and customized Salesforce CPQ as POLITICO's Quote-to-Cash solution. Now, the entire quoting process is automated, with consistent and accurate sales orders allowing POLITICO's accounting team to close the books every month, 25 percent faster.

Recognized as a global leader in the Salesforce implementation ecosystem, Bluewolf's innovative people have delivered more than 10,000 successful Salesforce projects for companies of all sizes, including media disruptors like News Corp. Australia and Dow Jones.

"Generating sales quotes and contracts is often a cumbersome process, but a business necessity—and the best companies are using the cloud improve it and get to their future, now," said Greg Kaplan, Chief Revenue Officer of Bluewolf. "POLITICO is one of those companies and understands that making it easy for its salespeople to do business greatly enhances both the employee and the customer experience."
