Shipt, an app-based grocery delivery service that serves 30 major metropolitan areas across the country, and Harris Teeter, a North Carolina-based supermarket chain, today announced an official partnership to offer grocery delivery from Harris Teeter in the Charlotte metro area. “One thing is very clear in the Charlotte region – people love Harris Teeter. By providing great groceries and focusing on customer satisfaction, Harris Teeter has established itself as one of the most well-respected brands in the region,” said Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Shipt. “We look forward to deepening our relationship with Harris Teeter, and expanding the number of stores we shop throughout Charlotte. We are ready to bring the convenience of grocery delivery to more people, while also further investing in community initiatives focused on families and addressing hunger relief.”
Through Shipt’s mobile or desktop app, members browse a full selection of grocery items available at their local Harris Teeter store and choose a convenient one-hour delivery window. A Shipt Shopper visits the local store to hand pick and deliver the items to the member as soon as one hour after the order.
For just $99 per year, Shipt members receive unlimited grocery deliveries on all orders over $35. Shipt does not utilize surge pricing, even for deliveries during peak times or holidays. To celebrate Shipt’s partnership with Harris Teeter, Shipt is offering $25 in free groceries to annual members who sign up prior to the launch of Shipt in their area.
Shipt displays an ongoing commitment to each community it serves. Locally, the company has worked with the Cam Newton Foundation, and will continue to identify opportunities to work with Harris Teeter’s community initiatives. Shipt also will partner with local organizations that are dedicated to addressing hunger relief for families and children.
“With Shipt, Harris Teeter is able to expand its delivery options beyond its current ExpressLane delivery. Shoppers now have a choice in how they get their groceries delivered to their doorstep,” said Danna Robinson, communication manager for Harris Teeter. “We look forward to building upon our existing online grocery offering by partnering with Shipt.”
Leading up to the launch, Shipt will grow its existing network of shoppers and recruit additional shoppers to shop and deliver orders to Shipt members. To apply to be a Shipt Shopper, visit Shipt.com and click “Get Paid to Shop.”
Grocery delivery will be available from more than 50 Harris Teeter stores in the Charlotte area. Shipt’s Charlotte coverage includes the greater Charlotte metro area and surrounding communities of Concord, Mooresville, Cornelius, Mint Hill, Waxhaw, Lake Wylie, Stanley, Denver, Huntersville, Indian Trail, Matthews, and Weddington, as well as Fort Mill and Rock Hill, S.C.

How can you see the whole system when it is spread across teams and locations? How do you close feedback loops across teams and activities delivering complex multi-tier, cloud, container, serverless, and/or API-based services?

Enterprises have been using both Big Data and virtualization for years. Until recently, however, most enterprises have not combined the two. Big Data's demands for higher levels of performance, the ability to control quality-of-service (QoS), and the ability to adhere to SLAs have kept it on bare metal, apart from the modern data center cloud.
