Randstad Technologies, CIO Executive Council host women IT leaders at Dallas networking night

Talent and solutions provider also releases data on women in IT for Dallas region

DALLAS, Oct. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Randstad Technologies, a leading technology talent and solutions provider in Dallas and across the U.S., and the CIO Executive Council are hosting a networking event next Wednesday, Oct. 26, for women technology leaders, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Hotel ZaZa Art House. The event is part of a series of Randstad initiatives aimed at supporting women in the information technology (IT) field.

The latest national figures from the Census Bureau show that women's representation in the IT workforce is shrinking – from 31 percent in 1990 down to 25 percent in 2014. Research from WANTED Analytics reinforces this trend, particularly in Dallas. There are over 10,000 current IT job openings posted by Dallas employers, who offer a median salary of $105,850 for IT professionals, making a career in IT a good target for women. Yet of the 156,000 IT professionals in the Dallas market, only about one quarter are women.

"Attracting more women to IT is important to our clients," said Kathy Van Pelt, Randstad Technologies vice president of strategic marketing. "We want to not only encourage more women to explore careers in IT, but also let them know that an IT job does not just mean coding - there's a great variety of IT roles available."

Randstad Technologies recently released a study focused on a segment of the IT workforce, Randstad Technologies' Cybersecurity Workforce Report - 12 Markets with High Demand for Top Talent. The report reveals 12 key markets nationwide – including Dallas – with strong demand for top-tier, enterprise-level cybersecurity talent.

The Randstad Technologies-CIO Executive Council event is for women in IT leadership positions. Please register here if you would like to attend.

Here are the event details:

Wednesday, Oct. 26, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Hotel ZaZa Art House
2332 Leonard Street
Dallas, TX

Five years ago development was seen as a dead-end career, now it’s anything but – with an explosion in mobile and IoT initiatives increasing the demand for skilled engineers. This talk centers around how to automate best practices in a multi-/hybrid-cloud world based on our work with customers like GE, Discovery Communications and Fannie Mae. Today’s enterprises are reaping the benefits of cloud computing, but also discovering many risks and challenges. In the age of DevOps and the decentralization of IT, it’s easy to over-provision resources, forget that instances are running, or unintentionally expose vulnerabilities.
