  • MindTap – Cengage's award-winning MindTap is a full digital course experience designed to build confident learners. MindTap Mobile, compatible with iOS and Android, helps on-the-go students stay organized and optimize small pockets of study time. As recently announced, MindTap Mobile now features the ability to download an entire textbook in less than ten seconds for offline reading. Cengage's instructional design and online design services support institutions in the development of curriculum. Outcome and assessment analysis programs work with institutions to evaluate and strengthen existing instructional quality.
  • Open Educational Resources (OER) – As revealed in a recent Cengage white paper, OER may triple in use as primary courseware within five years. Engaging students in learning content – whether traditional course material or open content – is essential. Cengage recognizes that OER can work with proprietary content and can be included on existing platforms, such as MindTap and Learning Objects. Moving forward, Cengage is focused on what more can be done to help those who choose to embrace OER to ensure it is most effective.
  • Competency-Based Programs & New Learning Models –Many of today's academic institutions are in search of new models for teaching and learning to set students up for success. The new CBL Platform from Learning Objects supports a comprehensive competency-aligned program with authentic assessment.
  • Credentials & Portfolios – Institutions can create transparency and ensure credentials are mapped to outcomes and competencies through a redesign of their credentialing models. Learn more about how to create pathways to increase access and equity with credentials that are portable and are easily understood by all key stakeholders.

One of the biggest challenges with adopting a DevOps mentality is: new applications are easily adapted to cloud-native, microservice-based, or containerized architectures - they can be built for them - but old applications need complex refactoring. On the other hand, these new technologies can require relearning or adapting new, oftentimes more complex, methodologies and tools to be ready for production. In his general session at @DevOpsSummit at 20th Cloud Expo, Chris Brown, Solutions Marketi...
While some vendors scramble to create and sell you a fancy solution for monitoring your spanking new Amazon Lambdas, hear how you can do it on the cheap using just built-in Java APIs yourself. By exploiting a little-known fact that Lambdas aren’t exactly single threaded, you can effectively identify hot spots in your serverless code. In his session at 20th Cloud Expo, David Martin, Principal Product Owner at CA Technologies, will give a live demonstration and code walkthrough, showing how to ov...
Existing Big Data solutions are mainly focused on the discovery and analysis of data. The solutions are scalable and highly available but tedious when swapping in and swapping out occurs in disarray and thrashing takes place. The resolution for thrashing through machine learning algorithms and support nomenclature is through simple techniques. Organizations that have been collecting large customer data are increasingly seeing the need to use the data for swapping in and out and thrashing occurs ...
We all know that end users experience the internet primarily with mobile devices. From an app development perspective, we know that successfully responding to the needs of mobile customers depends on rapid DevOps – failing fast, in short, until the right solution evolves in your customers' relationship to your business. Whether you’re decomposing an SOA monolith, or developing a new application cloud natively, it’s not a question of using microservices - not doing so will be a path to eventual ...
Detecting internal user threats in the Big Data eco-system is challenging and cumbersome. Many organizations monitor internal usage of the Big Data eco-system using a set of alerts. This is not a scalable process given the increase in the number of alerts with the accelerating growth in data volume and user base. Organizations are increasingly leveraging machine learning to monitor only those data elements that are sensitive and critical, autonomously establish monitoring policies, and to detect...
