Cylance Named Top 15 Company of the Year by Inc. Magazine

Cylance® Inc., the company that is revolutionizing cybersecurity by leveraging the power of artificial intelligence to proactively prevent the most advanced cyber threats, has been recognized by Inc. Magazine among its list of Top 15 Companies of the Year.” The Inc. list honors the nation's leading startups that have seen remarkable growth and captured the attention of their markets in 2016. This notable mention comes on the heels of Cylance’s inclusion in Inc.’s 35th annual 5000 list, which tracks the three-year revenue growth of the fastest growing private companies in America. Cylance was awarded No. 26 overall, number seven throughout all of California, and is the only cybersecurity company in the top 100.

Cylance and Stuart McClure, its president and CEO, were highlighted this week by Inc. for its groundbreaking artificial intelligence-based approach to endpoint security and hyper growth. The company’s approach to detecting malware threats prior to their execution is unique in the market and was recently credited as the technology behind the discovery, halting, and remediation of the United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) breach in 2015, as well.

Cylance has experienced unprecedented growth of more than 7,000 percent in the past three years. The rapid growth has captured investors’ attention, which fueled Cylance’s $100 million Series D funding round in June, bringing the company’s total funding to $177 million.

“It’s an incredible honor for Cylance to be named among some of the most innovative, game-changing leaders and companies in the world,” said Stuart McClure, president and CEO at Cylance. “This acknowledgement reflects the hard work and shared vision of our team to develop truly revolutionary products and solutions that help solve today’s overwhelming problem of advanced cyber threats. Today, we’re actively replacing outdated signature-based anti-virus and anti-malware solutions as part of our mission to protect every computer, every user and every thing under the sun.”

In addition to recognition on Inc.’s Top 15 Companies of the Year list, Cylance and McClure have received a number of accolades in recent months, including being named to the Forbes 2016 Best 100 Cloud Companies list, CNBC’s Disruptor 50 list, and as a finalist in SC Media Awards for the Best Enterprise Security Solutions and Best Emerging Technologies to be named in February 2017. McClure was also chosen as a national finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Culture is the most important ingredient of DevOps. The challenge for most organizations is defining and communicating a vision of beneficial DevOps culture for their organizations, and then facilitating the changes needed to achieve that. Often this comes down to an ability to provide true leadership. As a CIO, are your direct reports IT managers or are they IT leaders? The hard truth is that many IT managers have risen through the ranks based on their technical skills, not their leadership abi...

Without a clear strategy for cost control and an architecture designed with cloud services in mind, costs and operational performance can quickly get out of control. To avoid multiple architectural redesigns requires extensive thought and planning. All organizations that did not originate this moment have a pre-existing culture as well as legacy technology and processes that can be more or less amenable to DevOps implementation. That organizational culture is influenced by the personalities and management styles of Executive Management, the wider culture in which the organization is situated, and the personalities of key team members at all levels of the organization. This culture and entrenched interests usually throw a wrench in the work...

Virtualization over the past years has become a key strategy for IT to acquire multi-tenancy, increase utilization, develop elasticity and improve security. And virtual machines (VMs) are quickly becoming a main vehicle for developing and deploying applications. The introduction of containers seems to be bringing another and perhaps overlapped solution for achieving the same above-mentioned benefits. Are a container and a virtual machine fundamentally the same or different? And how? Is one techn...
My team embarked on building a data lake for our sales and marketing data to better understand customer journeys. This required building a hybrid data pipeline to connect our cloud CRM with the new Hadoop Data Lake. One challenge is that IT was not in a position to provide support until we proved value and marketing did not have the experience, so we embarked on the journey ourselves within the product marketing team for our line of business within Progress. In his session at @BigDataExpo, Sum...
Keeping pace with advancements in software delivery processes and tooling is taxing even for the most proficient organizations. Point tools, platforms, open source and the increasing adoption of private and public cloud services requires strong engineering rigor - all in the face of developer demands to use the tools of choice. As Agile has settled in as a mainstream practice, now DevOps has emerged as the next wave to improve software delivery speed and output. To make DevOps work, organization...
DevOps is often described as a combination of technology and culture. Without both, DevOps isn't complete. However, applying the culture to outdated technology is a recipe for disaster; as response times grow and connections between teams are delayed by technology, the culture will die. A Nutanix Enterprise Cloud has many benefits that provide the needed base for a true DevOps paradigm.

As software becomes more and more complex, we, as software developers, have been splitting up our code into smaller and smaller components. This is also true for the environment in which we run our code: going from bare metal, to VMs to the modern-day Cloud Native world of containers, schedulers and micro services. While we have figured out how to run containerized applications in the cloud using schedulers, we've yet to come up with a good solution to bridge the gap between getting your contain...
