Bitmovin sort la première API d'infrastructure vidéo de bout en bout destinée aux développeurs

Bitmovin, le fournisseur de technologies d'infrastructure vidéo en streaming, commercialise aujourd'hui une nouvelle API d'infrastructure vidéo regroupant ses services à succès d'encodage vidéo et de lecteur vidéo en un nouveau produit d'analyse de performance vidéo, avec l'intégration de divers fournisseurs de stockage et de réseau de diffusion de contenu (CDN). L'expression « infrastructure de vidéo » se réfère à tous les composants requis pour fournir un streaming adaptatif dans un environnement en ligne. La chaîne commence par un fichier vidéo, encodé dans un format de streaming adaptatif (généralement MPEG-DASH et/ou HLS) puis transféré vers un stockage en ligne (AWS S3, FTP, Aspera, etc.). À partir de là, le fichier est dirigé vers un réseau de diffusion de contenu, ou CDN (Akamai, Level3, CloudFront, etc.), qui diffuse rapidement la vidéo à l'utilisateur, qui utilise un lecteur adaptatif tel que HTML5 Player. La dernière pièce du puzzle est le système analytique qui suit le comportement de l'utilisateur. Au-dessus de cette infrastructure se trouve une autre couche de technologies, qui sont bien souvent nécessaires. Il peut s'agir d'une solution de cryptage (Digital Rights Management), d'intégrations publicitaires, de réalité virtuelle ou de contrôles vidéo à 360°, de sous-titres et d'encarts, et bien d'autres possibilités encore.

L'utilisation de la vidéo a augmenté si rapidement que la plupart des infrastructures sont assemblées à partir de systèmes de divers fournisseurs. Cette approche débouche sur des cycles de développement longs et coûteux, des systèmes complexes et non-évolutifs, et une offre vidéo en ligne ne rivalisant pas avec la qualité que l'on trouve sur Netflix, YouTube ou Twitch.

La nouvelle API de Bitmovin, qui est le résultat direct d'un feedback client, résout ses questions en regroupant tous les composants du workflow d'encodage et de lecture en streaming adaptatif (encodage, playback, analyse, stockage et diffusion de contenu), en une seule interface de gestion, sans pour autant enfermer les utilisateurs dans une solution « taille unique ». Les fournisseurs de contenu, les diffuseurs, les intégrateurs et les développeurs peuvent combiner n'importe quel élément de la nouvelle API Bitmovin, ou utiliser l'ensemble de l'offre Bitmovin, avec leur infrastructure vidéo existante.
