Harnessing Technology to Narrow the Insurance Protection Gap - Un rapport de la Geneva Association

Groupe de réflexion international leader de l’industrie de l’assurance, Geneva Association a récemment publié un rapport qui décrit comment les technologies modernes et numériques peuvent être exploitées par l’industrie de l’assurance pour réduire les écarts de la protection assurance sur les marchés d’assurance matures, et en particulier ceux en voie développement, en renforçant la sensibilisation, l’accessibilité et l’attractivité des produits et solutions d’assurance. Harnessing Technology to Narrow the Insurance Protection Gap offre en outre une analyse approfondie des concepts clés de l’économie de l’assurance, des approches des praticiens et des cas d’étude spécifiques en relation à la technologie. Les résultats, publiés dans le rapport, sont soutenus et validés par 23 entretiens de cadres et experts.

L’impact de la numérisation à travers la chaîne de valeur est pertinent et présent dans les domaines comme le pré-achat, les ventes et les opérations. Premièrement, il modifie la manière dont les clients approchent et perçoivent les propositions de pré-achat d’assurance. Deuxièmement, les ventes sont renforcées par la baisse des coûts qui résulte de la désintermédiation et la conversion augmentée des prospects accompagnés de solutions sur mesure et de canaux de distribution physiques ‘numériquement renforcés’. Troisièmement, l’adoption du traitement de bout-en-bout peut entrainer une réduction massive des dépenses administratives. Conjuguée aux données massives et à l’analyse prédictive, elle peut produire des améliorations importantes du taux de réclamation, et par conséquent l’accessibilité de l’assurance.

Utiliser une technologie moderne comme la télématique permettrait d’éviter que les assurés soient moins prudents et prennent de grands risques, notamment qu’ils se comportent de manière à ne pas respecter les intérêts des autres assurés simplement parce qu’ils sont protégés (risque moral). En outre, les données massives permettent des avancées décisives s’agissant de la classification du risque et rendent l’assurance plus attractive aux bons risques qui profitent d’une tarification individuelle plus favorable. La sélection adverse, une situation dans laquelle surtout des individus à haut risque achèteraient une assurance, est alors atténuée de façon efficace. En général, les marchés de l’assurance deviennent plus efficaces et proposent de meilleures offres aux assurés conscients des risques.

Dr Fabian Sommerrock, secrétaire général adjoint de Geneva Association et co-auteur du rapport, a affirmé : « Dans le débat sur l’écart de protection à l’échelle mondiale, l’utilisation de la technologie constitue l’une des dimensions les plus pertinentes et actuelles. Ce rapport nous permet de souligner, mesurer et quantifier les situations gagnantes-gagnantes pour les assureurs, les assurés et les sociétés en général. Nous espérons pouvoir ainsi sensibiliser la communauté mondiale de l’assurance et de la réassurance, les gouvernements, les législateurs, les régulateurs, les organismes de normalisation, les banques de développement, les organisations supranationales et les consommateurs par rapport à l’effet de levier énorme que la technologie peut exercer pour rendre les sociétés plus résilientes grâce aux mesures d’atténuation des risques et aux solutions et produits de protection. »

Dr Kai-Uwe Schanz, conseiller principal de Geneva Association et co-auteur du rapport, a ajouté : « Bien que la révolution ou l’évolution numérique de l’industrie de l’assurance vienne juste de commencer, la technologie a déjà contribué à la réduction de l’écart de protection. La numérisation constitue le levier unique grâce auquel les assureurs peuvent développer plus de solutions et de produits axés sur le client, accessibles et efficaces, tout en renforçant ainsi la valeur sociétale de l’assurance. »
