73 Percent of HR Professionals Believe Great Culture Ties Directly to Employee & Brand Engagement

CultureIQ, the strategic culture management platform that transforms data into actions, today announced the results of a survey of 579 HR professionals, conducted in tandem with HR.com. The respondents varied across a range of industries and company sizes and results highlight how organizations rate their company culture, what is vital for creating and sustaining a positive and productive culture and what actions can be taken to leverage culture to benefit business.

“Streamlining company culture is an ongoing process and HR departments and C-suite executive leadership are critical components in forging an engaged and productive culture,” said Greg Besner, CEO of CultureIQ. “Culture is defined by leadership and employees want to be lead by example behavior. It is critical for the bottom line that leaders actively manage culture.”

Many contradictions exist for HR practitioners and leaders dedicated to strong and positive corporate cultures. Other results from Employee Culture: A Closer Look include:

  • 73 percent of respondents indicated that great corporate culture drives competitive advantage for their company, resulting in higher engagement levels and a stronger brand
  • 52 percent said leadership buy-in is the biggest obstacle to strengthening culture
  • Only 40 percent rated their company culture as above average; 33 percent rated average; 27 percent rated below average
  • Lack of senior management and not enough resources were selected as the top two reasons why organizations do not actively manage culture

Employees need their employers to believe in them, give them responsibility to perform and create broad sense of connections with colleagues and community. With a strong correlation between corporate culture and organizational performance, human resource professionals cite the difficulty in uncovering nuanced characteristics necessary to reach and maintain a positive culture.
