Kafka Summit New York Keynotes and Agenda Revealed

The committee for Kafka Summit has released the keynotes, agenda and sponsors for Kafka Summit New York, taking place on May 8, 2017, at the New York Hilton Midtown. Kafka Summit, the premier streaming systems event for data engineers and developers, brings the Apache Kafka™ community together to share best practices, write code and discuss the future of streaming technologies. The conference further supports the growing Apache Kafka community and will share the latest and greatest in stream processing and real-time data pipelines. Kafka Summit will be surrounded by related events including a hackathon, a tutorial for new Kafka developers and an in-depth, multi-day training for advanced users. The updated agenda can be found here.

The conference will host 24 sessions across three tracks: systems, streaming data pipelines and stream processing. Keynote presentations will feature Jay Kreps, co-creator of Apache Kafka and CEO at Confluent; Neha Narkhede, co-creator of Apache Kafka and CTO at Confluent; and Ferd Scheepers, Chief Information Architect at ING. In addition, dozens of speakers across many industries will share their experiences running Kafka at scale. Featured sessions include:

  • “Achieving predictability and compliance with the data distribution hub” with Rajesh Kaveti, Bank of New York Mellon
  • “Apache Kafka Core Internals: A Deep Dive” with Jun Rao, Apache Kafka PMC chair and Confluent
  • “Billions of Messages a Day - Yelp's Real-time Data Pipeline” with Justin Cunningham, Yelp
  • “Kafka in the Enterprise | What if it Fails?” with Anton Gorshkov, Goldman Sachs
  • “Data processing at LinkedIn with Apache Kafka” with Joel Koshy, LinkedIn

Sessions were selected by the Kafka Summit committee from more than 100 submitted speaker proposals. The committee includes streaming data experts from Cloudera, Confluent, Google, LinkedIn, O’Reilly Media and Pivotal.

“Our vision for Kafka Summit is to bring together the best minds in the Apache Kafka community as well as leading companies that believe in and are successfully putting stream processing in practice,” said Neha Narkhede, co-creator of Apache Kafka and CTO at Confluent. “We’re looking forward to a conference where we can share new ideas, interact with the community and talk about the latest in Apache Kafka and stream processing.”

Kafka Summit attendees will have the opportunity to experience demos and discussions with some of the most forward-thinking data companies. Sponsors for Kafka Summit include The Apache Software Foundation, Attunity, Cloudera, Datadog, Elastic, Eventador.io, Heroku, Kinetica, Lightbend, LinkedIn, MemSQL, Microsoft, MongoDB and Yelp.

Join the Kafka Summit Hackathon on Sunday, May 7 from 6pm – 10pm to compete against other Apache Kafka users to create stream processing applications.
