Cota Board Names John Hervey As Next CEO - Eric Schultz to Become President

NEW YORK, Feb. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Cota, Inc. today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed John Hervey as Chief Executive Officer effective February 16, 2017. Eric Schultz will assume the role of President of Cota.

"This is the perfect time for John to become Cota's next Chief Executive Officer as it completes a succession plan that was initiated in early 2016 by Eric with the support of the Board," said Dr. Andrew Pecora, Executive Chairman of Cota.

John brought critical business acumen and a strong track record running large and complex organizations when he joined Cota's Board of Directors in 2013 to provide management and financial guidance to a group already rich with medical and healthcare knowledge and experience. In June 2016, he joined Cota's executive team, beginning what the Board planned to be an orderly transition that would allow Eric to remain focused on developing innovative technology solutions and the robust client and partner relationships he formed over the last several years.

"Eric Schultz has always been our technology visionary," Pecora added. "Throughout his career he has succeeded in creating original solutions to complex challenges at ground-breaking companies such as Lotus 1-2-3, Microsoft and Qualcomm, as well as founding QuantiaMD. He is gifted at finding value in new markets and creating the technology-enabled solutions to capture it. This transition between two long-time Cota leaders will allow Eric to continue essential innovation to expand the value of our products as John takes over executive management."

Eric joined Cota in 2014 to build a state-of-the-art technology platform that would implement the Cota Nodal Address and CNA Guided Care, both inventions of Dr. Pecora. By combining deep medical insights and unique intellectual property with large scale data curating, processing and analytics, Eric turned an original idea into a thriving commercial enterprise from virtually a standing-start. Under his leadership, the business has rapidly expanded as partners and clients in the life sciences payer industries and care providers recognized that power of CNAs.

"I became part of Cota's Board because I believed that what Andrew was creating could address an important need for America's healthcare system, but I joined as an employee because I had come to appreciate the limitless potential of the company. Cota is in the extraordinary position to pay a key role in enabling patients to get optimal care and to transform healthcare," said John Hervey. "This is an exhilarating opportunity to lead this talented group of professionals as we position Cota to achieve new heights by delivering high-quality, innovative solutions to our customers and partners."

"John and I have been collaborating and working together in one form or another for more than a dozen years," said Eric Schultz. "I cannot imagine a better person to lead Cota into its next phase of growth nor a better partner to team with as we develop solutions to address the most pressing challenges in healthcare by doing what is best for patients."

About Cota:
Cota is a technology platform that enables providers, payers, and life science companies involved in diagnosing and treating complex diseases to optimize the care of individual patients and lower the overall cost of the patient population served. It is powered by the patented Cota Nodal Address™ (CNA) system, a unique digital classification methodology built by leading physicians and data scientists. The CNA is the first and only system that precisely categorizes patient factors, their diseases and intended therapies, enabling precision medicine at scale.

Cota's technology enriches raw medical records to create research-grade data, and joins it with a suite of analysis, visualization, and management tools. This enables providers, payers, and life sciences companies to analyze, report on, and research outcomes, costs, treatments, and quality at any granularity and stage of the patient journey. The result is a constantly improving system that merges technology and science to help improve the lives of patients everywhere.

DevOps is often described as a combination of technology and culture. Without both, DevOps isn't complete.
