Spirent annonce le premier système de test Ethernet 200 G au monde permettant de répondre à la demande insatiable en matière de débit

Spirent Communications Plc (LSE : SPT), leader du secteur des tests et des mesures, a annoncé aujourd'hui le premier système de test Ethernet 200 G au monde. Cette vitesse Ethernet supplémentaire est permise grâce à de nouvelles interfaces électriques 50 G, qui offrent le déploiement de liens 50 G rentables à partir de serveurs haute performance vers une nouvelle génération de commutateurs et de routeurs. Dans ces dispositifs, les interfaces 50 G peuvent être facilement combinées afin de bâtir des connections à vitesse plus élevée vers d'autres systèmes basés dans le centre de données ou dans le cloud.

D'après l'IEEE, le 200 G constituera le prochain domaine de croissance explosive dans l'écosystème de l'Ethernet en raison de la demande insatiable pour un débit supérieur sur les appareils mobiles, les serveurs de centres de données à grande vitesse, le divertissement sur Internet (notamment la vidéo), l'informatique en nuage, et les médias sociaux.

« La vitesse Ethernet 200 G exploite en grande partie la technologie NRZ 4x25 G 100 G qui est expédiée à grands volumes. Son architecture PAM4 4x50 G réutilise l'emballage optique 100 G et les lasers. Ceci permet un déploiement en volume rentable à moyen terme », a déclaré Chris Cole, vice-président du développement avancé chez Finisar.

« La combinaison de quatre trames d'interfaces électriques constitue traditionnellement la configuration idéale, à la fois d'un point de vue technique et économique, pour les technologies Ethernet », a confié pour sa part Neil Holmquist, vice-président du marketing Cloud et PI chez Spirent. « Tout comme il a été question d'utiliser quatre trames de 25 G pour adopter le 100 GbE, nous considérons que l'utilisation de quatre trames de 50 G sera largement adoptée pour le 200 GbE. »

Cette nouvelle génération de commutateurs et de routeurs, basée sur des interfaces électriques de 50 G, présentera de nouveaux défis pour les fournisseurs d'équipements ainsi que pour ceux qui déploient leurs équipements. Ceci débutera par garantir l'intégrité et la stabilité du lien physique lorsque le trafic augmentera jusqu'à 200 Gbps, et nécessitera ensuite la validation d'un nouvel ensemble de caractéristiques, de fonctionnalités, de performances et d'échelles.
