Midnight Oil Hires Two Executives

Creative agency Midnight Oil is announcing news of the company’s progression, their vision for the immediate future, and the hiring of two executive-level employees.

In their nearly 40-year history, Midnight Oil’s evolution has seen expansive growth. From their beginnings as a design studio, to their current state as a full-service agency that partners with motion picture and TV/streaming studios, video game publishers, consumer goods brands, and even a robotics corporation, Midnight Oil’s business model has predictively adapted to the marketing landscape.

As evidence of the agency’s commitment to further broadening the depth of their capabilities, Midnight Oil has hired Scott Murray, Sr. VP, Creative Content, and Dani Kollin, Creative Director.

Scott Murray, who will lead Midnight Oil’s creative content team, has previously lead content teams at Herzog & Company and Buddha Jones, among others. Having worked on acclaimed campaigns for film and TV with nearly every major studio, Scott’s recent work includes the production of Chinese social media content for Warcraft and directing/producing the music video for Halsey’s “Castle” for The Huntsman: Winter’s War. Scott has won several creative awards including a Key Art award for the “Singing Live” featurette for Les Miserables.

Dani Kollin, who joins Midnight Oil’s group of Creative Directors, has lent his expertise to an array of award-winning campaigns, including the Microsoft account for Ogilvy & Mather, the Samsung Mobile account for Razorfish, and the Hot Wheels and Matchbox brands for Mattel. Dani will lead the creative on Midnight Oil’s SoftBank Robotics account, as the agency broadens the scope of their collaboration with the world's top innovator of humanoid robotic technology.

“As Midnight Oil continues to invest in our future, it’s imperative we listen to our clients and understand the growing opportunities in front of us. As thought-partners, we have to understand what our clients need for the upcoming year and beyond,” said Brandon Gabriel, Midnight Oil’s EVP, Business Development. “The industry’s continued complexities place a greater emphasis on our agency becoming the most informed, valued advisers we can be. In order to fulfill this vision, we must continue to invest in people, our process, platforms, and technology.”

When growing capacity and power in the data center, the architectural trade-offs between server scale-up vs. scale-out continue to be debated. Both approaches are valid: scale-out adds multiple, smaller servers running in a distributed computing model, while scale-up adds fewer, more powerful servers that are capable of running larger workloads. It’s worth noting that there are additional, unique advantages that scale-up architectures offer. One big advantage is large memory and compute capacity...
In the world of DevOps there are ‘known good practices’ – aka ‘patterns’ – and ‘known bad practices’ – aka ‘anti-patterns.' Many of these patterns and anti-patterns have been developed from real world experience, especially by the early adopters of DevOps theory; but many are more feasible in theory than in practice, especially for more recent entrants to the DevOps scene.
