Lightwave Innovation Recognizes OFS TeraWave™ ULL Single-Mode Optical Fiber

LOS ANGELES, March 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- OFC 2017, Booth 2925 -- OFS, a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of innovative fiber optic network solutions, announced today that its TeraWave ULL Single-Mode Optical Fiber has been recognized by the 2017 Lightwave Innovation Reviews. In this program, the TeraWave ULL Optical Fiber received a score of 4.5 out of 5 points. Dr. Robert Lingle, Jr. of OFS will accept the award during the OFC Conference and Exhibition.

Presented annually by Lightwave, the Lightwave Innovation Reviews program distinguishes products and solutions available within the optical networking industry as determined by a stellar panel of third-party judges, including executives and analysts from a wide array of service providers, technology developers, industry analysts and journalists. Products and solutions that earn a score of at least 3.5 out of 5 points are recognized.

Dr. Timothy F. Murray, CEO and Chairman of OFS, stated, "OFS appreciates this recognition of our optical fiber by the Lightwave Innovation Reviews. The TeraWave ULL Optical Fiber reflects our company's ongoing commitment to developing industry-leading fiber optic innovations that meet the needs and expectations of our customers while, in turn, positively affecting the lives of end users around the globe."

Lightwave Group Publisher Rob Stuehrk remarked, "On behalf of the Lightwave Innovation Reviews, I would like to congratulate OFS on their score. This competitive, unbiased program celebrates the most original and innovative products in the optical networking industry. We are pleased to celebrate OFS' TeraWave ULL Optical Fiber for its meaningful contribution to the optical networking industry."

Designed to meet the demands of today's terrestrial optical networks, the TeraWave ULL Single-Mode Optical Fiber is optimized for long haul transmission in the C- and L- bands (1530 nm – 1625 nm) at 100 Gb/s, 400 Gb/s and beyond. This ultra-low loss fiber takes the best aspects of highly-engineered submarine fibers and combines them with cabling performance that is similar to conventional single-mode terrestrial fiber. These improvements allow system designers to increase distances between regeneration and amplification sites, helping to lower the overall cost of deploying coherent systems – now and in the future.
