Public Debut of the Océ Colorado 1640 Printer to Take Place at ISA International Sign Expo 2017

Canon Solutions America Eager to Show Guests the Fastest 64" Printer on the Market

MELVILLE, N.Y., April 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Canon Solutions America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., Inc. today announced that the Océ Colorado 1640 printer, the company's first wide format graphic arts roll-to-roll printer, will have its public debut in the U.S.A. at the ISA International Sign Expo 2017 (ISA Sign Expo), booth #2068. The event is set to take place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas April 20-22, 2017.

Canon considers the Océ Colorado 1640 printer to be one of the most important wide format graphic art product introductions. It is the first 64" roll-to-roll wide format printer built on Canon's new proprietary UVgel Technology, which was created to fill the functional gaps of printing with traditional technologies such as Latex, Eco Solvent, and UV, while at the same time addressing market needs for faster job printing and turnaround. The Océ Colorado 1640 printer features disruptive UVgel Technology with the lowest running costs of any 64" printer, with an estimated 40% savings on ink costs.

"The past few weeks have been very exciting for us at Canon Solutions America now that the word is finally out about our new game-changing technology," said Sal Sheikh, vice president, Marketing, Large Format Solutions, Canon Solutions America. "The Océ Colorado amazed our guests at the One Canon Press & Analyst event in March, and we are eager to see the reactions at the ISA Sign Expo later this week."

At the ISA Sign Expo, attendees will have the opportunity to witness first-hand how the new technology will benefit customers in all print production markets by delivering breakthrough productivity of high quality prints at 610 ft2/hr and an outdoor banner mode of 1,710 ft2/hr.

People attending will also witness never seen before automation with automated head cleaning, continuous nozzle monitoring, media step control, and a media drawer featuring two media rolls with automatic switching. The Océ Colorado 1640 printer uses LED cold curing technology, which allows for a wide application range including indoor and outdoor banners, floor graphics, printing on thin inexpensive films for POP displays, wallpaper, and more.

The UVgel ink features ultra-thin ink dispersion with almost no discernible physical profile and almost no dot gain. This equates to a very low ink consumption rate, helping reduce ink usage by up to 40% compared to competing technologies.

"We are thrilled to be showcasing the Océ Colorado 1640 printer to our customers for the first time at the ISA Sign Expo," added Sheikh. "We are confident that attendees will be impressed by the productivity and automation capabilities of the Colorado, its wide application range, and the astonishing quality of its output. We anticipate the excitement will continue to expand within the wide format graphics industry and beyond."

DevOps is under attack because developers don’t want to mess with infrastructure. They will happily own their code into production, but want to use platforms instead of raw automation. That’s changing the landscape that we understand as DevOps with both architecture concepts (CloudNative) and process redefinition (SRE). Rob Hirschfeld’s recent work in Kubernetes operations has led to the conclusion that containers and related platforms have changed the way we should be thinking about DevOps and...
The Internet of Things will challenge the status quo of how IT and development organizations operate. Or will it? The next XaaS is CICDaaS. Why? Because CICD saves developers a huge amount of time. CD is an especially great option for projects that require multiple and frequent contributions to be integrated. The only way to get CICD to work in a highly secure environment takes collaboration, patience and persistence. Building CICD in the cloud requires rigorous ar...
Companies are harnessing data in ways we once associated with science fiction. Analysts have access to a plethora of visualization and reporting tools, but considering the vast amount of data businesses collect and limitations of CPUs, end users are forced to design their structures and systems with limitations. Until now. As the cloud toolkit to analyze data has evolved, GPUs have stepped in to massively parallel SQL, visualization and machine learning.

To get the most out of their data, successful companies are not focusing on queries and data lakes, they are actively integrating analytics into their operations with a data-first application development approach. In his session at @BigDataExpo, Jack Norris, Senior Vice President, Data and Applications at MapR Technologies, reviewed best practices to ...

Large industrial manufacturing organizations are adopting the agile principles of cloud software companies. The industrial manufacturing development process has not scaled over time. Enterprises are adopting Kubernetes to accelerate the development and the delivery of cloud-native applications. However, sharing a Kubernetes cluster between members of the same team can be challenging. And, sharing clusters across multiple teams is even harder. Kubernetes offers several constructs to help implement segmentation and isolation. However, these primitives can be complex to understand and apply. As a result, it’s becoming common for enterprises to end up with several clusters. Thi...
