Erfolgreicher Start für SES-15, SES‘ erstem geostationärem Sattelit an Bord einer Sojuz

SES (Euronext Paris:SESG) (LuxX:SESG) meldete heute, dass der SES-15-Satellit an Bord einer Sojuz-Rakete um 08:54 Ortszeit vom Guiana Space Center, Kourou in Französisch-Guayana in die Erdumlaufbahn geschossen wurde. Es ist der erste Sattelit der von einer Sojuz-Rakete in einen geostationären Transferorbit beördert wird.

Der SES-15 befördert eine hybride Nutzlast mit zusätzlichen Ku-Band-Widebeams sowie Ku-Band-HTS-Fähigkeit (High Throughput Satellite) mit Verbindungsmöglichkeiten zu Gateways im Ka-Band. Der SES-15, der erste Hybrid-Satellit von SES, ist mit 16 Ku-Band-Transpondern (entspricht 36 MHz) sowie einer hohen Durchsatzleistung ausgestattet. Er wird auf der neuen Orbitalposition 129 Grad West stationiert, um Nordamerika, Mexiko, Mittelamerika und die Karibik zu bedienen.

Dank seiner hohen Durchsatzleistung bietet der SES-15 eine optimierte und flexible globale Abdeckung für führende Anbieter von IFEC-Services (Unterhaltung und Konnektivität während des Fluges) wie Global Eagle Entertainment, Gogo und Panasonic Avionics. Er verfügt außerdem über einen dedizierten Wide-Beam, mit dem IFEC-Anbieter TV-Inhalte auf allen Flugstrecken innerhalb der USA, einschließlich Hawaii und Alaska, sowie in Kanada, der Karibik und Mexiko live übertragen können. Dank dieser einzigartigen Kombination aus Trägerstrahlen können IFEC-Anbieter außerdem die HTS-Kapazität für Internetverkehr und Widebeam für Rundfunkinhalte optimal nutzen.

Der SES-15 ermöglicht zudem weitere bandbreitenintensive Datenanwendungen, beispielsweise für Regierungsstellen, VSAT-Netzwerke und maritime Anwendungen.

Der Satellit transportiert außerdem eine auf dem Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) gehostete Nutzlast, damit die US-Bundesbehörde für Luftfahrt (Federal Aviation Administration, FAA) die Global Positioning Systems (GPS) ausbauen und so deren Genauigkeit, Integrität und Verfügbarkeit für die Luftfahrtindustrie optimieren kann.

Der Satellit verfügt über ein elektrisches Antriebssystem für die Platzierung in der Umlaufbahn sowie Manöver innerhalb der Umlaufbahn.
